on the hunt - 294

I had a really full day today. I was invited by Rob & Billie, two of my “camera buddies” from the camera club, to go along with them to Emerson Point Preserve as their guest to observe a class they are taking to become Ambassadors for several of the Preserves in the area. This was their second class and they thought I would enjoy sitting in, and ( Read more... )

Fantastic ~ that you got ALL the answers right on the test at the end ... and got an Ambassador Pin and Certificate!
Neat photo of the blue heron...

Thanks! I never did well on tests in high school and college. But this was something of great interest to me, so that helped. Now I hope I can retain all that information. As ambassadors, we represent the preserve and should be able to answer all kinds of questions anyone would have about it.

When you were lost, I am very happy that a gator did not come wandering up to greet you! Or some horrible huge snake! :/

Well, I am happy about that, too. I don't think I was even worried about gators at the time. And snakes don't bother me too much, but if I see one, I stay back and walk way around it. I try not to go far off the path or into heavy brush, so less danger of running into a snake.

Awesome! I was just 'going down the internet hole' looking up all sorts of Australian birds for their calls. It is something I should be 'up' on, and I'm not. Funny that we should be doing similar things at the same time. I could join the local organisation, but I have to think carefully about how much I want to travel and how much I want to be involved. Congratulations on becoming an ambassador! I never would have got all the questions right.

Thanks! I surprised myself the second time around. My study habits are poor and I don't retain a lot of things for very long it seems. It has to be something I really want to know about and that interests me.

I think we connect in many way across the miles on a lot of levels, Beth.

Gotta tell you ... By the end of the 2nd sentence, I already knew the end of the 4th sentence. ;~) Congrats, Madam Ambassador. Hope you continue to have as much fun and more.

So what could be hurtful in the phrase "nature and wildlife nerds"? Seems like a fine group to be a part of. Downright complimentary.

Great photo, as always.

Haha! As I was writing that first paragraph, I figured someone would say that or catch what I was leading up to.... and I thought it might be you.

Well, maybe I didn't word that quite right. I guess much of society has made the word nerd into something to perhaps be made fun of. But I don't really mind being called a nerd -- it's kind of endearing. So phooey on them.

Phooey! Phooey and Fie upon those of closed minds and unkind words. You, dear lady, worded it quite well. I'm just a smarty pants who likes to dance around with words. Pay me no mind when I get goofy like that.
