Thank you. My intention years ago was to make the stained glass stepping stones to go everywhere, but as good intentions are just that, I got busy with other things and so we ended up buying the square red ones. Some of mine are 15 years old and have held up well. I've made about 200 over the years all different shapes and sizes and designs to sell and give away. Excellent way to recycle my glass scraps.
I mean pics in this post are really different. Walls, clouds, plants, water, cars and other details in posts before. Today I see nice landscapes with perspective, with air. Sorry for poor English.
There's no need to say sorry. We all have different words for expressing ourselves, and I love knowing about them.
So expansive landscapes mean air to you? I'm glad to learn something new today. I wonder if this is derived in any way from the French words "plein air" meaning painting or drawing in the open air, outdoors, on location.
As an intuitive I prefer to see "the big picture". I like this pics a lot. Again LOVE all the gravel everywhere. And the mosaic stepping stones are so nice. Love all your little gardens. Did it take a long time to fill the stone raised beds with soil or sand for you succulents?
Ahhh, interesting to know. I like close up detail and also the big picture, both for reasons at different times, I guess. I can see where these photos today are quite a bit different than what I usually post. I like them, too.
The raised beds: It took as long as it takes to buy lots of bags of topsoil (we bought the cheapest we could find--I think at the time it was about a buck a bag), and empty the bags into the planter walls. Not long at all. We also shoveled in some sugar sand from the yard, too, for better drainage and mixed it all up with the shovel. Then for the top layer we used a better grade soil like potting soil. And the placing of the blocks actually went pretty fast, too. When we got to the end for each row, about half the time we had to cut a block so it would fit. That took the most time.
That's right you don't really notice the stepping stones that much cause there is so much other wonderful stuff to see in your garden but when you took these photos they just stood out so nicely! I'm glad you showed everyone how nice and big your garden is - I have been there to enjoy it but probably no one else on LJ has seen it. It's like a meditation garden with lots of detail but then open places to let your attention wander.
Thanks, Mary Lou. I love getting other people's thoughts on things (like my yard) that I look at so often and just don't really see it fresh anymore. Thanks for the very flattering description. When we first moved here, I remember saying I'd like to create something zen like and a place for meditation. I always wanted to make a labyrinth out there, and maybe I have kind of created my own version of one subconsciously.
