Congratulations on your bicycling! Great pictures. Those spoonbills are the most beautiful shades of pink I've ever seen.

Thank you! And, I totally agree, these birds are incredibly beautiful! It's kind of hard to see in my pictures because I was so far away, but their heads are a light green, then a little yellow feathers at the bottom of their neck right before the pink feathers start, then bright orange under their tails.

Your photos are always great but I love the delicate colors in these. Maybe it's just that there aren't very many pink birds on average and here we get to see them. Very beautiful.

The only two pink birds I know of around here are roseate spoonbills and flamingos.

Aww, gorgeous...the Spoonbills in captivity just can't compete with the wild ones for color. The ones at Disney are barely pink.

Thank you, ericadawn. It's kind of sad to think of them in captivity.

... how do they keep spoonbills in captivity; why don't they or can't they fly away?
I've never thought of that before.

I really don't know, unless they clip their wings so they can't fly, and that's a real shame if they do! Or, they might be in a caged area. I've never seen them before in captivity.

I don't think I've seen spoonbills this close before, and didn't realize they were so pink.
I'm sure as you continue to ride the bike and cross the bridges more often you will gain confidence in crossing them with more ease ~ hope so. It sure lets you cover a greater distance. Good job!

When they fly, their underwings are even more pink!

I went down there again today and felt much more confident, but I just don't like those bridges yet. It's kind of nice to get off the bike and walk a little, too.

Thanks, Priscilla! I think you got great shots, too!
I definitely want to go again. I think when we get more rain, there will be many more birds down there.
