I've been reading the Satanic Bible and there's really a lot of relatable stuff in terms of LaVey's cynicism of Christianity. And he also attacks the Eastern religions which is good, because I get tired of hearing hippy claptrap extolling the virtues of nonsensical mystical belief systems.

I particularly like how LaVey conveys some ideas similar to those in Marxism, wherein religion is a system of controlling the masses by making them content in their "God-given" lot in life and content in the belief that if they remain humble and compliant they will be rewarded in the afterlife.

Most of what I said there was his ideas in my words. Though I like to give myself credit for noticing on my own how often the world doesn't make sense, therefore intelligent design being essentially a comical idea to me.

I don't know much about Eastern religions. On the surface Buddhism doesn't look to bad, but from the little I've heard, those religions in practice keep people feeling miserable about themselves and slaves to the whole idea of the afterlife at least as much as Christianity.

Yesterday I ordered Peter Gilmore's Satanic Scriptures, it's in the mail. I really appreciate Satanism, it's a refreshing and much needed different perspective, and so clever.
