Any genre. I've read a whole lot of SF/F in the last 25 years, so I wouldn't mind something outside of it. And new or older is great, but I can only read so many books in a year, so I want people's best, or favorite or most interesting suggestion!
Recent SF/F stuff that I have liked so far is Saga the graphic novels by Brian K Vaughan. I'm really liking Seanan McGuire's work, I am more partial to the fantasy though. For mysteries I have always loved Michael Connelly's stuff, he has two series out but if you want to try a taste without having to get wrapped up in a series since the second one braids into the first one. Blood Work can easily work as a single book and it was also made into a movie
