Last week's word count was roughly 500 words. This isn't really impressive, but considering that I got two fanfics beta'ed, edited and posted (which don't count in this statistics), I don't feel like it's bad, either. I have been writing other stuff, like fun
memes, too, so I think it wasn't a bad week creatively, only one where I didn't get much

Hmm... I think to keep myself going with my sculpting challenge it really helped me to keep writing update posts. It makes me feel motivated because once I put it out there that I was going to do it, I felt like I had to make sure that I did. n_n
For stories, when I was doing Nano I would let Scottie read finished chapters of my book. He was excited about it and was excited about reading the next chapter, so it kept me wanting to write so he could continue to be excited about the next installment. xD

Haha, that is totally me! ^^ Yes, I think regular update posts really do help a lot. At least they help to stay focussed, they may or may not help with the actual work...
Letting someone read already finished chapters sounds like a good motivation, too. However, I'm not a very linear writer, so often my stories are very much unreadable before they're finished... But otherwise it sounds like a good trick! :-)

And I agree with you that staying away from a story for too long will most likely make me drop it. I think that's what happened this time, too. But now I've grit my teeth and started writing on, so there's that. :-) What I've written isn't very good so far, but just like you I'm often more motivated to edit stuff rather than write new stuff, so hopefully that'll help. I still have to decide whether my idea is good enough, though. ;-)
