Doing a lot of thinking lately. Quite a few folks in the fandom go to conventions and have been pressuring me to go. I've been reluctant up to this point, and see no reason to really change that primarily because my finances do not allow for more than one or two interstate trips per year. A trip with a family member to me has much more value and

It is a reasonable thought process. I go to cons because it makes me money, hello book sales, and contacts as much as for fun and I work my tail off for it. But its enjoyable and a distraction from other nonsense in my life. Still I agree the cycle of debt and hard work to remove debt only to collect debt doesn;t work for a lot of people and you have good reasons to be con neutral.

I still say Furry Fiesta is worth a trip simply because its a good time but that is me.

If it works for you and you have bigger more immediate goals I say embrace them.
