Blue-eyed grass is the common name for several species of the plant, which are short (usually more than two inches, but never as much as twelve) and may have white, white-with-pink-edge, or blue/blue-purple flowers. They're in the iris family but distant cousins of garden iris.

Welcome home! Sounds like the land is in good form.

In unrelated news...

I was back in Houston last week for training, and managed to see Blue Bonnettes, which made me a happy girl.

Mom and Dad drove over from Louisiana so we could have a chance to visit. They made their way out towards Brennan to catch a glimpse at the Blue Bonnettes and Indian Paint Brush.

Welcome back!!!
we are finally having rain here in NC and I swear that things that weren't up before the rain are now blooming. like the purple columbine that seemed like it popped up overnight. The escapee wisteria here is blooming in the roadsides and thickets and make the drab brown trees look misty and heathery. Yay! Now I just wish that the mosquitos wouldn't spawn....!

Yes--it's one of my favorite small butterflies (though I'm now acquiring a fondness for others of about the same size.) It was the cause of my buying the _Butterflies Through Binoculars_ book which introduced me to some others--I had taken a picture of it and was blown away by the contrasts of brown and green and pure white.

Many of the hairstreaks are lovely, but this is my favorite of the hairstreak/groundstreak group.
