Oh, yeah.

Something very petty, but I'm a little pissy at our local newpaper right now. They published a gushing piece about Lyn-Lake, which is the commercial district I tend to revolve around. It's fun and funky, with great theaters, restaurants, and shopping. It's also still overshadowed by the ultra-hip and mega-commercial Uptown just six blocks to the ( Read more... )

"What happened to NorthEast becoming "hip"? Why aren't they all up there???"

They tried. Oh they tried.

They left when we continuously and enthusiastically urinated on their tires and tried to sell them raffle tickets for pancake feeds.

Creativity comes in many forms, my darling.

Did you think I was kidding? Oh my no. It's a different set of artists up here in the Nordeast (proper pronunciation, J)

We indulge in:

Homebrewing and the art of Beer guzzling
Football watching ... complete with BBQ of unidentifiable food items.
Nerd baiting .... what else can I say? We've all fallen victim a time or two when we've left our Nordeast ID badges in the drawer.
And the random act of urination upon unsuspecting BMWs and Saabs.

The Nordeast is a conclave of seriously f*cked up, happy-go-luck, blue collar artists.
And we don't like trespassers. So ..... call before you come.

Thhhpth. :) It's the beer-drinking that gets me, every time.

And I KNOW the proper pronunciation for Nordeast, but the rest of the peeps who read this wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about.

Not that it would be a change of pace or anything....

Don't worry. They'll find a place. They'll start tearing down all the cheap funky apartments to build condos and McMansions.

Plus, now that the area has been publicized, you'll have all kinds of people (Residents and buisnesses) down there who don't have a feel for the neighborhood causing issues with (longtime) residents and buisnesses, and likely an uptick in crime.

Sorry. My neighborhood's been going through this for a while now.
