The first one is exactly what I have been thinking every time they say it!!!

I don't even mind when they feel the need to call him "Jo". I can live with that. He is just SO not a "Willie".

GAH! I just don't like the word. Not even for Guillermo or William. It sounds awkward and unfortunate to me. Jo is fine, Jo-Wilfred is good too, but Jo-Willie makes him sound five.
