A widow's advice

This is strictly practical advice.

If you have loved ones, make a will. There are forms online. But really, you should get an estate attorney to help you. It will cost some money. Pay it. It will be worth it.

Figure out if you live in a community property state or not. These things matter if one person in a relationship dies. You should know your ( Read more... )

The whole electronic thing was a side-swipe. It will get sorted, but slowly, slowly, as I have the will. It could have been so much easier, and it will be easier for Austin.

Now is the time, while it's fresh in my mind, and I'm having to deal with it daily, the good and the bad. I feel, at times. like the despair.com poster -- Sometimes the purpose of your life is to be an example to others. :/

Excellent advice, Elizabeth. Thanks. We've got our finances pretty well sorted out, and we do have wills, but I hadn't really thought through the whole online passwords thing. We had a very useful conversation today because of your words.
