So, Harper plans to get rid of the per-vote subsidy for political parties.

I'm actually okay with this, provided he doesn't touch the contribution cap in place (currently $1,200 for individuals per year) or allow corporate donations to political parties again.

You realize this isn't for any reason other than to benefit Team Harper right, and is therefore not good for anyone but Team Harper, right?

Just because something benefits one particular party, that doesn't make it wrong on principle.

I just hope it won't mean that big companies can start donating huge amount and increase their loby to the government and therefore influence political decisions (more than they currently do, anyway). I find that possibility scary.
