This is the downside to not having the egotism among hockey players that you see among, say, football players though. It cuts both ways. I agree that right now Subban is joyful and as the writer notes, eager to please, but down that road you'll find primadonnas like Chad Ochocinco. There was a time, after all, when football celebrations were still generally just joyful and not the look-at-me spectacles we get today.
I'm not saying Subban is in the wrong (or Linus Omark - Google "Linus Omark shootout controversy" if you're unfamiliar), just that if you want to be able to hold any kind of high ground about hockey players being better people (generally) than athletes in other sports (and lots of hockey fans will make this case), then you need to recognize that letting them show more of their personalities while they are on the ice is a bit of a threat to that.
