Still and probably forever a news junkie, but I can see how after not paying any attention to the outside world for a few days, it becomes really easy to not go back. And how some people find it emotionally draining to pay attention to the news.

i am sensitive and theres always so much bad going on that i can only handle it in moderation.

It's hard to disappear off the radar! In 2005 (was it 2005? I can't remember what year it was) I disappeared into the wilderness of the B.C. interior for a week, and emerged to find out Hurricane Katrina had happened. Imagine that kind of disconnect.

Another time I had no media access, I found out that Saddam Hussein had been executed. Well then!

I spent a month in India never reading or watching the news and now I never read the paper, it's all depressing.

I do watch Rachel Maddow and The Daily Show, because I like politics and it's light hearted.
