Women might make the joke, but if a woman made it publicly, it would go right over the heads of 99% of men who would just think she was retarded. Men see it as a joke that can be made about women, but not about men. It is about sexism.

Men are also stupid, by and large. I can't believe how many make "hot dog down a hallway" and "baby falling out" jokes about anyone who has even had one child, and god forbid more than one or two. What freaks me about those jokes are not just how bloody rude they are, but the guys saying them actually believe they are true. No seriously, they realy believe that. Biology class, to say nothing of sex ed, has failed when it comes to men. Massively.

The thing is though, most women I know aren't paying attention to this. It's sort of like listening to your grandparents talk about "darkies." It's so quaint, we can't even believe it's real. I imagine white men must have a similar feeling when a little black girl calls them a "cracker", not realizing that was a serious insult and they should be offended.

and if his ex was not a celeb, this story wouldn't have even made the airwaves.

Yeah, that's it. Calling the media over to talk about anything in such immature terms was not going to go over well. And he knew that full well. Suspension warranted.

LMAOOOO you're taking this Avery thing WAY too seriously. When I heard about Avery's comment I laughed and wondered to myself, "who would be stuffy enough to be offended by THAT?! WTF is this PC world coming to that that's considered sooooooooooo insulting towards women?? lol lol lol"
Then I saw your LJ and was like "......................."

But if you're a man, and you don't see how the phrase "sloppy seconds" demeans the woman it's said about, you will probably never have a girlfriend again.

LMAO are you serious? What makes you say that?
Someone who can't take a joke and gets all offended has a MUCH much much MUCHHH smaller (or even non-existant) chance of being dated by me VS someone who's more easy-going and can laugh at these kinds of things! ;)

i found this to be by far the most interesting thing i've read regarding all of this. i'm very curious to see what happens to him after the six games are done. it seems more and more like he won't be returning to dallas. and if so, what a retarded way to have your NHL career end. i guess it's a good thing he did that vogue internship this summer!

I am kinda surprised at peoples reactions to this. I think it's a little sad.

Don't feel like expanding on that here, but msg me next time we're on MSN together.
