Of course, it's summer in Australia right now - that was evident when they had to close the roofs at the Australian Open over the weekend - and so Scott Dooley, otherwise known as the best thing going on radio these days, has been taken off of his Wednesday night all-night (all-day to us) DJing duties on Triple J. Which means that the new best ( Read more... )

You're actually not allowed to eat your ballot. The government says so.

9th point down the list.

Oh yeah, I knew it was illegal. But that doesn't mean that some people don't do it anyway...

I like the voting for sentiment. it's upsetting to think that will some people will pick Conservative just to vote against the Liberals.
they should vote Green!

I voted last week in my parents' riding for the NDP candidate who stands a conceivable chance of winning! fingers crossed.

I realize not everyone's the political nerd that I am

LoL..I'm not sure why but that made me smile. It was cute.

As for the whole voting, gah I have no idea what to do. I know nothing about politics so I can't really make a vote based on all those "attacking" commercials that are on TV. Politics is almost like a soap opera now! LoL.

You don't have to know anything about politics. My advice, if you want to vote but aren't sure about it, find out who the candidates are in your area, read about them, and pick the one you think will do the best for your community. Maybe that's an oversimplification, but it's not like it's hard to find information, especially since we've had a month and a half to do so.

But if you really can't decide, don't vote just to vote either.

We could be stuck in the U.S., with just two real options, and with politicians who've absolutely rigged the system to try to keep it that way.

Amen to that. And look who our choices for president have been over the past three cycles. It's just horrendous.

Oh, and I see that Michael Moore is now trying to tell Canada how to vote too. How annoying.

He did that last election, too. Mind you, the Conservatives have been doing something else entirely.

An article in the Globe over the weekend said that Harper's people have been telling American Conservatives to shut up until the thing's been won, since any crowing from them might tip the election the other way.

Or, rather, "American conservatives".

I knew who ya meant. Of course, I have no idea why the American conservatives would crow about it at all...our guys are nothing like your guys. And just because someone shares a name doesn't mean they share an ideal, like our liberals versus yours with the big "L".

If the Conservatives pull it off, I will hereby attribute it to Michael Moore. It seems that whenever he opens his mouth, he screws something up.
