I love thinking about where I'm going to live someday. I think I'd like to build (and by build I mean pay someone else) a house that's eco-friendly and self-sufficient. Living in the middle of the woods with no neighbors or traffic for a couple of miles would suit me beautifully.
It's really my only motivation to get a real job; I want my own home and land more than anything else.
Does that mean you'll move somewhere where it's easier to do that? Like Montana or Idaho or something? Or maybe that weird part of Michigan near Sault Ste. Marie?
I'm as antisocial in real life as I am on LJ. It's not that I don't like people, more that I'm very comfortable by myself. One of the things that I hated most when I lived in my apartment was that I had to be social every time I exited or entered my home. It's much better now that I no longer share walls with anyone but I don't want to feel even the slightest obligation to make nice in my own damn yard.
I'm not sure where I'll wind up living. If I could afford enough land I could live in just about any rural setting and not have to be around other humans unless I chose to. When I lived in Marquette, a far bigger town than where I live now, even just a few miles out of town there was nothing but power lines and highway. I could be close enough to a workplace, a ski area, and other important perks of civilization without feeling surrounded. Anywhere like that (as long as I can ski) would be wonderful.
