flat leaver: When I was a kid we called any other kid that left in the middle of a game or left you by yourself a flat leaver.

gills: These had a few other names, but I can't think of the others. Basically whenever someone said something ( Read more... )

reminisce, hiphop

All of this is new to me. The only rhyme I knew as a kid was

"no cuts no buts no peanut butter haircuts"

It Takes Two really was the ish. And yes Engine Engine #9 (which always reminds me of Black Sheep's "This or That")

we call gills rips.

"[insert offbeat comment here]"
"thas a rip!"

person performs rip/takes gills. lol, exact same concept, tho. thas pretty tight. in fact, we still get and give rips to this day.. ma brother got one from me when i went home a few weeks ago!

I wonder if, 15 years from now, some girl who's 13 years old will look back on her love of Yung Berg and 50 cent with that same mix of fondness and disgust.

not unless somebody like you steps into her life between now and whenever to intervene.

It was called slaps or something like that. I think we slapped across the knuckles instead of the back of the neck...

We had similar rules that were rarely enforced regarding "It" aka "Tag" aka "Hide 'n Go Seek".

Did ya'll ever play freeze tag?

That was my fave. We used to play boys vs girls, and the girls had to untag you. That was probably the best part, in retrospect.

I never played "go get it" but we used to play Freaky Friday. Then we started making up names for the other days of the week so we could have Freaky Friday everyday, lol.
