Thinking about Dani's entry and this ep of Girlfriends I saw a while back... I had a VERY strong reaction to that episode. The girls were out, wind up getting in some big group fight outside the club and Joan just... stood there. To me this is huge. How do you NOT have your friends' backs?? I don't care who you work for blah blah blah. Something ( Read more... )

That's probably my most favorite episode of Girlfriends, btw.

I thought Toni was totally justified in being pissed at her.

And you would think out of all of them that Toni would've been the one to not fight.

I put maybes because it depends on the situation
as far as my friends, we're all a lil mental but unlikely to get into any fights that are totally our fault bs, so considering my violent short temper and protective history, I'd most likely be scrapping too
however there are friends of friends, and lost mind moments so ya never know
I am tryna grow beyond my temper

as for my friends possibly letting me get jumped, anything could happen so I felt I had to leave room for some scenario I can't see, like me completely losing my damn mind and them having some sort of brittle bone condition

Me and my friends haven't been in any fights in many many many years. So I'm assuming someone must have seriously violated my friends or that they were just attacked. I wouldn't even hang with someone who would go out LOOKING for a fight or just acting up. At least I wouldn't hang out with them in a place where I know they are likely to act up.

Exactly. If my friend gets into a fight over some foolishness that THEY started for whatever reason, I'd try to break it up and scold him/her off to the side for being a moron. But if they're physically attacked then somebody's going to get a size 8 1/2 Reebok Classic up their ass. Some serious stompage will commence.

And if someone jumps me and my friends don't jump in, I'll stomp their asses when it's over and tell them to fuck off. As much as I do for my friends when I really don't have to most of the time, if they can't have my back when when someone's tryna beat my ass then they're fake and they can kick rocks.

prefacing this with the assumption that friends means close tight personal friends, not just the old folks i chill with at the bar.

the "maybe" comes from the fact that my friends may have different reasons to stay out, more to lose. Like my cousin, he would fight for me, but he is also a black male, so in a fight he has much more to lose than me. and I think he would probably only step in to pull me off. My friend Jen, she has a kid, so she's in the same boat as presh, she's got other obligations. But i'd still expect her to talk a lot of shit from the sidelines lol. I don't really care too much if they are helping me fight physically, but I better not turn around and see them across the room somewhere. Back me up SOMEhow.
