And sure enough, Lina slept on for several minutes past when Ed awoke, not at all phased by the slight movement beside her. She would occasionally shift, draping an arm over his waist, tucking her head against his chest, shifting closer to the radiating warmth beside her to stave off the cold weather that seeped in through the bedroom walls ( ... )

What little composure Ed had managed to regain while watching Lina sleep was quickly going right out the window as she woke up. Seeing the blush on her face only made Ed's face redden again. He wasn't sure why, exactly, but there was something about the look on her face... He couldn't read it, had no idea what in the hell it meant, but it definitely made all the blood rush right back into his cheeks.

He opened his mouth to say something, but then shut it again. He felt fairly certain that another of those unbecoming squeaks was going to come out of him and he had no intention of letting that happen again. He had to briefly avert his eyes and clear his throat. Get it together, Elric. And stop smiling like a dork.

After a second he turned back, shaking some hair out of his eyes and opening his mouth. "Uh-" He wanted to say 'Good morning' or 'How'd you sleep?' or something nice that made sense. But the second he saw that blushing face of hers, all that came out was, "Wh-What is it?"

Why was her mouth dry? It was never dry first thing in the morning, not unless she had a cold. Then she snored. Oh god, did she snore last night? The thought sent mortified shivers down her back.

Snap out of it, Lina! She mentally berated herself. You're dating! It's not a big deal that you fell asleep in the same place! Hell, you've done it before!

But then he turned back to her, and that hair slid over his shoulder once more, almost begging for her to reach out and pull at it, watch it slide between her fingers like--

And there was that blush again. "It's just.." She swallowed. "I just.. I've never seen your hair, you know. Down."

Ed blinked at her, surprised. Whatever he'd been expecting to hear, that definitely hadn't been it. "Wha.. What?"

Something here wasn't processing correctly. His hair was down... Did that mean she wanted him to tie it back again? But she was blushing. So...... she liked it? Or- Maybe it made him look like a girl when it was down, and she was blushing because then it was like she was dating a girl and -

This was all so damn confusing. It was too early in the morning for this. Ed needed coffee.

"Yeah, well I- when I sleep it just..." He glanced off to one side and cleared his throat again before the words started pouring out of him in an embarrassed mumble. Why was he even explaining? Did she really need to know this?! Was it really a big deal? "I-It gets messy if I leave it tied, so..."
