Salvador, Oscar

Here's a rather interesting article about Dali and film. It's actually about an exhibit you can see in England, which I'm jealous for not being able see:

Mad About the Movies: What Salvador Dali Saw in the Cinema

Long before Salvador Dali became the flamboyant founder of the Surrealism movement, the young artist's first love was film and he ( Read more... )

I was also happy when Dreamgirls got snubbed for BP.

My Mom and I are finally seeing The Queen today!

Did you like The Queen? It had some great acting in it, I thought. Other than that, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

It was good. Not the greatest movie EVAR, but one of the better movies of '06. And the acting was indeed top-notch.

I've not seen Blood Diamond (and I don't have much desire to), but was DiCaprio's performance in that better than his performance in The Departed? Really?

No, seriously... really?

Does anyone know yet what country he's supposed to be from?? bad_juice January 23 2007, 16:23:18 UTC
I'd think that muddled, baffling accent alone should've left him delightfully nomination free.

Cool article on Dali. While I was in the south of France, I made plans to venture to his home/museum but they fell through. Of course, it gives me an excuse to go back one day.

As for the noms...they've left me feeling really fickle as usual. Big "meh" face all around. :-/

(Although, I'm happy to see some many noms for del Toro and Children of Men.) The doc and animation categories are a joke every year.

I was surprised and a little happy to see some recognition go to Cuaron's movie as well as the Magician Movies. Children of Men is possibly one of the best movies of 2006 that I saw, but the other two aren't, yet deserve some recognition for other aspects of the films.

And del Toro's film was mentioned more than I expected!

I've hardly seen any of those movies. That's depressing. I just haven't had much time to get to the movies this year. I hope "Water" wins for best foreign language though.

And yeah, throw Marty a bone people!

I did. That's one of the few movies I've actually gotten out to see this year. :)
