I think they melt the sugar and then spread it onto the donut and let it solidify so the donut looks glazed over.

Hmm, I used to eat a lot of those n'hood bakery doughnuts, with crunchy sugar on top. But my view on doughtnuts were broadened when I encountered Dunkin' Donuts in Canada - omigawd, doughnut balls in all flava's! *drools*

i miss dunkin' donuts. used to eat them sometimes after school (back in sec sch, when there was still an outlet in far east plaza).
