*Sigh* Just wonderful. Sweet and sad, serious but funny. I can see both stories coming alive with your wonderful descriptions. And since I (may be one of the few who) like Marley, her character is a bonus for me :-)

It’s the music. It’s always the music. He really should know that by now.
I love how Kurt was so worried about understanding his character and then the transformation was so simple. Such wonderful details, like the frayed patch on his sleeve...

I like how you've written the Kurt/Blaine scenes, with so many unspoken gestures and meaningful undertones. From
Have you ever had a moment like that?” he asks, and when Kurt doesn’t answer right away his eyes flick up to him. “When everything just stops, and you just - know?
to
Would piano do it?” Blaine keeps his head tipped down, but looks up at Kurt through his eyelashes. The evening’s been friendly and sweet so far, but Blaine’s eyes are glittering and dark, and they bubble something low in Kurt’s stomach. And I hadn't heard of the orginal letter before so thanks for ( ... )

Thank you so much!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying it so far. The original story fascinated me (and made me cry!) and I had *so* much fun putting Kurt and Blaine in the character's shoes and making them figure things out. (And Marley is a doll and adorable, and I had a blast playing with her here :)) Also, fistpump of successful subtext, I am never sure if that ever comes across to anyone but me... thank you again for reading, and commenting! <3

I am unfamiliar with the source material you are using as the inspiration for this story...but it is very poignant and suits these characters. Kurt has a hard time letting his guard down and letting anyone get close to him. It's probably from a lifetime of being bullied, teased, or harrassed for being "different". Where Blaine can more easily "pass", Kurt has a harder time not standing out. I think Blaine will slowly gain his trust (and his love) as they work together and their characters relate on more intimate levels. The chemistry and the pull is already there...just a matter of time. Looking forward to the second part tomorrow!

Thank you!! Both of these boys have a lot of their own history that they're struggling with here, and I am so thrilled that you're enjoying it (and watching them find their way around themselves and each other)! Thank you for reading and for such a lovely comment :)

I am loving this fic; not familiar with the background of it, but it's incredibly poignant. This is so well written....and I love what is unsaid as much as what is laid out for the reader in such an excellent way. My heart is full as I read. So looking forward to the next installment.

Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying it (and finding it moving!) Knwoing what to say vs what to *not* say is one of the hardest things about writing, and I am so glad it is working/making sense! Thank you for reading and for such a lovely comment :)
