i have a lot of pictures pre-digicam era and i'm scanning them when I have the time. i want to preserve everything, although the danger of the current technology is virus and dying hard drives. it's scary to think about losing pictures. i have 2-3 years worth of pics in my hard drive. insane.
i did that exercise a few years ago and saved the pics on an old Geocities account, which is now closed. Speaking of dying hard drives, I had to invest on a new one so that I don't run the risk of losing stuff in my main C drive. But now the power supply on my PC needs replacing.
I think we really only substituted one problem with another, no matter the advancements in technology we will still have problems.
Me being the neurotic freak that I am, I always keep a back up of everything, just in case. Thing is: you don't have to deal with tons of pictures anymore, right? But eventually, those tons of pictures will become tons of CDs! And if you don't burn them in CDs, there's a risk of losing them, and storing them online means keeping track of yet another account, username and password that you will most likely forget at one point or another... It's quite a dilemma, actually! XD
How much photos have you got on Photobucket? Admittedly a lot of my pics there are just hottie pics, but I would hate to lose all of that when I spent quite a lot of time and effort in to finding them.

Yeah, nothing compares to pics in print. Which reminds me I need to organise mine if I am to start this scrapbook project.
