I have a "sweep while the kettle's on" rule. It makes me feel like a fairy-tale character (Cinderella Lite, I suppose). And before I instituted the rule, sweeping was something that never seemed urgent until I'd been stepping on grit for days and was grossed out. It's nice not to get to that point.

My solution to this problem was to find the worlds most awesome teakettle, which sounds like a train whistle. However, it's not a perfect solution, so I often stand in the kitchen and read till the tea water is ready.

I can see how your solution is a million times better than mine.

I solved my tea problem with an electric kettle, but your solution is even better.

I use that time to take dishes out of the dishwasher or to make a sandwich to bring to work, but I agree that cleaning would be much more productive!
