I didn't get to see all of the Oscar telecast, but what I did see really annoyed me.  For those of you who didn't see...

During the big montage of everyone-who-died-this-year, they had Queen Latifah singing on stage--which was fine, she sounded great--but instead of showing the montage itself like they always do, they filmed the screen that was

I only watched maybe 10 minutes, but in that 10 minutes they managed to piss me off enough that I turned it off. The writing was bad, the camera work was horrible, and they managed to insult set, costume, and make-up designers about 5 minutes before giving them awards. :P

The opening monologue was fun....the rest, meh. But, I enjoyed it because I was watching at a party without Sammy.

I only caught the award for the best foreign language film (or film in language other than English or whatever tortured thing they call that category now) and for that one they did some completely confusing thing where they announced a theme for each movie, like "war" or "crime," but not the title.

Oh, yes, another good example. It took me a second to catch on: "I KNOW that's not what that means in that language, what is this?"
