What must it be like to be a Harvard-educated attorney and then suddenly (more or less) have people saying things about you like "And, in her first official act as First Lady, Michelle Obama chose a lemongrass-colored suit for the Inauguration ( Read more... )

I definitely consider myself a media mogul.

Did you ever watch Commander in Chief with Geena Davis? She had a first husband.

No. Have you read The President's Daughter series by Ellen Emerson White?

I was just about to ask if you'd read those!

(I've actually only read the one where she gets kidnapped. They're not easy to find.)

They've just been reissued! So they should be much, much easier to find now. It's kind of weird, but the author went through and did a lot of updating so they're less 80s now (which was never a problem for me, but...). And she wrote a fourth book, following up on the one you've read, that just came out in 2007. (That's what spurred the updating--the newest one is set in the present time, and I guess she and/or the publisher thought it would be weird to have the series suddenly jump from the 80s to now--but hey, I grew up reading the Babysitters Club books, and actually Trixie Belden from before that, where they celebrate Thanksgiving over and over... but NEVER GET ANY OLDER [cue Twilight Zone music]. I can deal with a time warp.)

Michelle Obama is such a classy lady, I think she's going to surprise all the idiots out there over the next four years. She's been very quiet so far, but I suspect she's waiting for the right time and place to start showing her personality more. I do think she's a bit more traditional than, say, Hillary Clinton, but that she will find her own ways to make a difference.

I can't remember who it was, but I heard a political analyst who has known the Obamas for years talking about them. He always thought it would be Michelle who would run for president. :)

Also, I love your musing on Bill Clinton. You know that deep down in his heart, he would be SO INTO that.

I kind of hated myself for thinking how awesome that outfit was.

Yeah, I sort of felt like Michelle Obama would be personally disappointed in me for noticing.
