AAAAAH!

I am trying to reread Charlotte's Web, which I haven't read in many years because I pretty much have it memorized: I was in the play in high school, and the play is an almost word-for-word adaptation of the text.  (Because I know you will ask: being a person of rather limited acting ability, I was one of three cast in a sort of narrator/ ( Read more... )

That's too bad! My second grade teacher read the book to us in the spring of 1978. The weather was nice, so she took us all outside to sit in the grass. I can't read Charlotte's Web without hearing Mrs. Willis's voice and smelling May in Chicago. One of my nicer grade school memories.

Suzy is going through the bacon and sausage and ham come from pigs dilemma. She hasn't announced any intention to quit eating pork altogether, but she has been eating less (although she snapped up the bacon from the turkey easily enough)

Oh, dear. I reread Charlotte's Web and read Secret of the Andes for the first time. I tried to read/reread each with fresh eyes and no prejudices, but I couldn't. I loved Charlotte's Web when I was a child and loved the cartoon movie.

My traumatic school drama memory is our production of James and the Giant Peach in fourth grade. We had three narrators-I was one of them. For some reason, we were dressed as fairy tale characters. I was little Red Riding Hood. Don't ask. I have no idea why.
