My sock club package came last night. Which leaves me with a dilemma; I expect to finish my current pair of socks, for a friend, tonight. I need (yes, need) to cast on some more socks. But I have two other socks that are high on my queue, as well as the new sock club socks - a pair called Leyburn for me, from yarn that knirirr's mother gave me for ( Read more... )

I'm slowly making progress on my Garden Gate socks (have just got past the ankle of the first one) - they are turning out totally fab and I keep having to stop and try them on and go 'oooooh!'

I am soooo scared to try them out - I imagine the stranding is rather inelastic and I have thunder calves really well-developed and strong calf muscles...

So far the stranding is being quite forgiving - I am doing it in a weird cotton/wool blend which is not v stretchy but as they're shaped I'm hoping this won't matter too much (erk).

I am able to crochet, though I have trouble with the American designations for stitches being different from the British. I have a lovely crochetted tank top half done, which I had to stop because a) that part of the pattern was badly written, and I still can't work it out, and b) crochetting gave me bursitis in my elbow :-(

Wow! And I can somewhat crochet, using British terms, as long as I go slow, and read the instructions over and over. The baby booties I had just done were in British terms. Maybe that is why they look so different from the sample picture.
