Sporadicity...

Gonna be a long day, even apart from the time change. I woke up at 3:30 (EDT) and never did fall back to sleep. Finally got up around 4:15 or so. Flipped on the computer, and then remembered the time change and that I hadn't changed the clocks, and that it was actually 3:15. It's now approaching 6 AM (EST), and I've already had breakfast and have ( Read more... )

Aww, I am smitten with the older kids raising food for the pantry. Good on them. They get to have Halloween fun and not raise hackles.

I know what you mean about the guest house. Out here in the mountains of Arizona we have this weird dynamic where the city trebles in size over the summer, with folks fleeing the Phoenix heat for our higher elevation. So there are lots and lots of homes, in every income bracket, that are vacant for nine months out of the year. So I'm always squinting at the houses, trying to figure out which ones are which.

We have one house, admittedly two streets away, but the closest facing ours, which I am mystified by. It appears to be a full time residence, but the number and variety of cars that show up there are bafflingly large. All sorts of people go in those doors, adults, kids, etc., all the time. I thought the people living there were elderly, which would maybe mean grandparents with frequent visitors, but it seems like some of the kids live there too. I have no real idea.

Yeah, we get the summer crowd, too, although those houses tend to be down near the water as opposed to out where I am. There's another house three houses down from for which I have never seen signs of occupation. It's kept up well, but there is never a car in the driveway, and the only people I've ever seen outside it are landscapers mowing the lawn. Very odd.
