I justed watched them haul away my old Subaru. After years of procrastinating, I finally called the auto salvage yard to come get it. I damn near cried when they came. It's hard to say goodbye. Especially when it's been put off for a while. I did the same with, well, lots of cars actually.

Mom is glad I don't have a garage now because there are fewer places to store a phantom car. Granted, realizing three days before I moved to Portland that I had a car in the garage wasn't the most convenient timing but it's funny in retrospect.

Goodbye, Subaru. Happy rusting with dreams of nice drives.

I'm still not nearly as bad as my father. Over the years my brothers and I have often referred to his back yard as Smilin' Ed's used car lot. He still has his '67 Mustang, even though it's no longer driveable.
