Nudge, Nudge, Say No More...

I have successfully disabled the frelling nudge "feature." I have no clue why LJ thought this frelling thing was necessary, but they certainly don't make it easy. You have to go to the administrative console, type "set disable_nudge 1" (without the quotes) in the posting box, click on [execute], and Bob's not only your uncle, he can't nudge you

I tried that, and got an "enter user command" box instead.

Screw it. I just figure that if anyone nudges me, they are immediately off my friends list.

That's the posting box I was talking about. Put the command in there and hit the "execute" button.

I have no idea why the LJPTB decided to a) turn it on by default, and b) so thoroughly hide the command to turn it off. As it stands, they're saying they have no plans to add an on-off check box to the user info page. They seem to be trying to attract the myspace crowd at the expense of their old users.

And yeah, this is screwed up. There was a passive aggressive little "for everyone who HATES it, we see someone who LOOOOOOVES it!" post from one of the admins in there.

THANK YOU for finding this! What an idiotic feature -- who in their right mind thinks what the internet needs is more passive-aggression?

Let me know if you find a way to change the "Nudging Disabled" message to "Bite me."
