What a delight! You chose the time periods for every companion so well. This is the part in her journey with the Doctor that Amy is starting to understand what it means, that he's centuries old and his past is full of ghosts. And then she gets to meet those ghosts, and again the timey-wimeyness works so well - Martha during the time she's trying to reclaim the love she had in another timeline, Donna in her search for the Doctor after The Runaway Bride, Rose during the time of Turn Left looking for the Doctor, all of them searching for what Amy already has: the Doctor, and someone she loves and who loves her in return. She has so very much, she's so lucky, and she doesn't even realize it. And seeing the joy the Doctor has had with Jack and Rose and Martha makes Amy better appreciate what she has - and what more she could have, if she let it happen.

It's just what I wanted as a gift. I can't wait to find out who you are so I can squee at you some more.

I'm so glad this story worked for you! I started over twice, trying to figure out which point in time to use for all the companions and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I had great fun writing from your promt!

All our favourite girls right there in the one fic interacting with each other behind the Doctor's back! Brilliant.

Also, I particularly love this:

“And by the way, Rose says ‘hi’. Does River know, you have another girl friend?”

I think I just fell in love with Amy a little for delivering that line so guilelessly.

Thank you! It's always nice to see the companions interact without the direct influence of the Doctor and I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I liked this very much! It was like little touches of homecoming for us even if it was more like pieces of a puzzle for Amy. Although... I suspect that even for her, along with her growing realization about her feelings about getting married, she was beginning to feel as if she was belonging to a bigger "family" after catching these glimpses of the Doctor's past selves and companions.

I've always loved discovering "what had been before", or doing a little historical digging to times (even if recent) before I've been involved in something, some place, some group or something as trivial as a TV show. I've always loved that sense of discovery and growing connection, and you've captured that feeling with Amy's discoveries. I'd love to see more of this story with Amy gradually piecing together more bits.

Thank you for this comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

I think it's important for Amy to see that there is so much back story. I mean Martha and Donna knew of Rose at least, but Amy's case it's an all new Doctor who has left a big impact on her life since childhood. Especially in season five he has this fairytale hero dimension for her and I wanted her to have glimpses of the other people he's touched in different ways. Even if she can't understand all she's seen...
