My thoughts about "Rose"

A few thoughts and pictures about "Rose"

Kind of, longish.

First of all, old theme song and credits! I missed the old theme a lot.

I really like this episode. I know it's corny and the special effects are cheesy and it has that kind of "home-made video" quality to it, but I love it. Rewatching Rose makes me realise JUST how much I miss Nine, Billie and Chris have some amazing chemistry, they have these great fights and I love that right away Rose is not afraid to put The Doctor in his place.

Mickey, I'll have to tell his mother he's dead and you just went and forgot him again, you really are alien

It's interesting to see how much Mickey and Jackie(Mickey especially) change throughout the seasons. Mickey starts off as this pathetic character who is obviously holding Rose back and by the end he's a hero, and I can't help but love him. Jackie I loved right away, she's funny and loudmouthed and while she gives me second hand embarrassment when she tries to hit on The Doctor, Camille is brilliant and there was just no way I could ever dislike Jackie.

I love the catflap scene, and the banter between Rose and The Doctor, The Doctor making a mess with the playing cards in their house, looking through their mail, reading The Lovely Bones in one second, seeing his reflection for apparently the first time.(Which does make you wonder just how soon after his regeneration is this) and then there is this scene.

This is what had me hooked on the show, what made me fall in love with Nine and what made me ship The Doctor and Rose, and it is my favorite DW related quote.

Rose Tyler: Really though, Doctor. Tell me. Who are you?
The Doctor: Do you know like we were saying, about the earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world is turning and you just can't quite believe it 'cause everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it...
[he takes her hand]
The Doctor: - the turn of the earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour. The entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty seven thousand miles an hour. And I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world. And, if we let go...
[He releases her hand]
The Doctor: That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home.

I really like the scene with Clive, despite the bad photoshop, and Mickey trying to make tough guy faces only to be eaten by a garbage can. But for some reason, I don't know why, I really like Rose interacting with other people. We see a lot of her personality when we see her interacting with others.

Also, in this picture/drawing, The Doctor looks like Steve Carrell *snickers*

Lastly, Rose's reaction to the TARDIS is my favorite one out of all the companions. She's in danger, but she's so shocked that she still takes time to run around the outside of it in disbelief.

And we all love the end, I take it. Nine's disappointment at Rose's rejection, and the regret is also clear immediately on Rose's face after he leaves. These few seconds here where The Doctor was gone,is when I think that The Doctor had all those adventures that Clive talked to Rose about. But I suppose we will never know when he had those trips and what he did in between that time he went back to Rose.

I've always wondered just what exactly made him want to back and ask her again to come along with him.
