Has anyone ever felt betrayed or mislead? Met someone that was a snake in the grass?

Cut off contact with the person who's proven to be a snake. That was the hardest part for me. Note that this was a past relationship of mine, so maybe it's different from your situation.

I guess since then I have been very weary of people in general...maybe too cautious/paranoid, but the good thing is, I have not come across anyone else who has betrayed me. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe there really are more good/genuine people out there than there are bad ones.
