So I've finally finished my first year of uni... this feels weird : / But at least I can now get back to my story...

I'm kicking myself because I've finished reading Feeling Sorry for Celia and Finding Cassie Crazy by Jaclyn Moriarty, nearlly killing myself with laughter at how great (and funny) they are, and now I don't have the next two books... ( Read more... )

I love poetry too and I write some myself- as you know from my Jill poem. I could privately send you some of my original poetry if you wanted?
I'm studying arts, majoring at the moment in history and politics :)
This is such a bizarre question but are you Carol on Deepgenre? You've given me advice before if you're Carol :P I'm writing my first novel and its 48 000 words atm sigh. I feel like I'm running some sort of painful marathon word race. How is your novel going?

I'd love to read some of your poetry! That would be briliant! And yes I am Carol on Deepgenre, how did you figure that out? LOL I've hit a halt with my story kinda, but at a good place. I actually finsihed my first draft, but it was a bit shorter than i wanted. I wanted about 80 K (just a short novel) but only got about 75 K in the end, but I just kinda went with the 'get it down on paper' thing and fix up later. So I managed to do half the fixing up in my lunch breaks at work, on paper, need to put it into the computer now. I was lucky (or unlucky??) in the finsihing of my writing...I was made redundant earlier in the year (I'm a geologist) but they still made us come to work for 2 weeks, so I pretended to work ona report but just wrote my story instead. Thats when i got it completed. Hang in there, I have a feeling you are going to have a brilliant story you have a real way with words. When I was writing I set myself weekly limits of 5000 words, which I found really good as it made sure I was progressing. History would be great to ( ... )

nah it's O.K. I'll just private message you one of my poems on LJ and then if you think that one is bearable i'll send you some more :)
Now that I'm off uni its been easier to write my story :) I'm probably writing about 5000 a week atm. During uni though it was really tough to factor in time to write, what with assignments and all. I'm aiming to have finished my first draft by the end of this year (fingers crossed).
My novel will probably sit at around 80K, though when i go through and edit and add in stuff it might be a bit more.
