Do you have any idea if there is a way to archive your journal as a back up just incase.

Journal yes.
Comments no.

I used a tool called Blog2Blog which allows you to pick up your entries from one server, and put them all on another (LJ / Blogger / Wordpress / etc) or just save them all to disk.

Funny part - it saves it as a "B2B" file and calls it a Blog2Blog archive, when it's all a big XML file.
