Schedule
Prompts will be collected from now until Friday, October 31st.
A masterlist of prompts will go up on Sunday, November 2nd.
You may then claim a prompt and post your story at any time between Sunday, November 2nd and Saturday, December 6th. If you finish your prompt early, you may go back and claim a second prompt. Or even a third one if you are especially productive.
A masterlist of stories will go up on Sunday, December 7th. We will then do an interpretative victory dance for you.

Rules for posting prompts:
-- Anyone can suggest prompts, even if they can't participate. But if you do so and one of your prompts gets written, be at least so kind as to leave some feedback for the author.
-- A prompt should consist of two parts: first, the historical details you would like to see included; second, the characters you think would be smashing in this story. However, to make things easier for our authors, the second part will be entirely optional for actually writing the prompt.
Example:
If I posted the prompt, "How about a western adventure involving Calamity Jane? Bonus points if Seven & Ace are the team TARDIS in that fic!" and
livii claimed it, she would have to write something set in the Wild West and featuring Calamity Jane. However, if she decided that she would rather have Benny Summerfield or Romana I in her fic, this would be fine, too.
-- Everything from Whovian canon, no matter how obscure or controversial, is fair game, both for prompting and writing. Wanna wax rhapsodical about Braxiatel meeting Machiavelli or about Erimem
witnessing Cleopatra's death? Go for it! Characters from Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures are also okay, but no crossovers with other fandoms, please.
-- One word of caution, though: Unfortunately, history is anything else but a fun romp full of tea parties in stays, but rather full of nice and quaint stuff like slavery, wars, racism and genocide. Prompts about very sensitive subjects should be approached cautiously, and your mods reserve the right to edit them from the final prompt list at their discretion. Doesn't mean we don't like you; we could just try to save you from yourself because this sort of story tends to end up on fandom_wank before you can even spell 'trivialization'.
-- If you want to post a prompt or write a story involving a recently deceased or still living person of historical importance, please consider that graphic content might, in this case, trigger some readers' RPF squick. However, everything with people more than mostly dead, like Martha/Shakespeare, is fine and dandy.

Rules for writing:
-- Only the historical part of your prompt is mandatory; the characters you choose to include may or may not fit those in the prompt. It's entirely up to you. See above.
-- All genres, pairings and ratings are allowed, but we would like to see the historical side of the prompt emphasized -- i.e. it should get a bit more attention than just, "hey, isn't open-air sex near the guillotine a real thrill?" Okay?
-- Part of the fun of historicals is the historical accuracy, so participants are encouraged to research their prompts. (Yes, we know that even Shakespeare's plays are full of historical inaccuracies. But the Bard didn't have Google or Wikipedia.)
-- The story may or may not involve aliens.
-- The minimum word count is 500 words.
-- Spelling, grammar, dictionaries and beta-readers are your friends.

Submission guidelines for your story:
-- You may post either the whole story or a link back to your journal here. But please don't use fake LJ-cuts.
-- Please include title, author, pairing(s), rating, warning(s), prompt, author's notes, and disclaimer in the header. Everything else goes under a cut / is linked to on your own LJ.
-- Use the tag "fic-fest 1: entry" for your story post.
