Title: The Other Earth Recipient's Name: such_heights Author's Name: spifftastic Fandom: His Dark Materials Rating: G Character(s): Ten, Lyra, Pantalaimon
*flails incoherently* Oh my goodness I love you! I was so thrilled to see this pop up on my flist, because I really, really didn't expect anyone to pick His Dark Materials for me, and you did, and then wrote something absolutely brilliant, and oh I am so full of squee and yay! :D
This is just beautifully written, and I love the concept of this, that image of two lonely, passionate, brilliant people clinging to each other because they've lost everyone else. Your Lyra voice is astonishing, both her dialogue and the way she sees the world, and especially the way she sees the Doctor. There are so many wonderful lines in this, but I think the part that really broke me was:
She leaned against the solid, warm body in front of her, her cheek against his chest, and she heard two hearts pounding, neither of them hers. His daemon, she thought with detachment; how nice for him to have it there inside him, safe inside his skin.
That is so, so Lyra, and oh Doctor.
Thank you so, so very much of this, it's wonderful! ♥

This is so lovely. The different alonenesses and Lyra's wisdom. The Doctor having his daemon in his chest. And all the physical space, distance, connection between them. Achingly lovely.
Wow. This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the way Lyra and the Doctor both feel the same pain, and they seek the ones they lost, but they find each other instead, and it's not close enough to be satisfying at all, only close enough to bring back their longing and pain for their loved ones trapped in other worlds. But then they have each other to share it with.

I'm rather speechless.
This was absolutely wonderfully written, and a beautiful combination of the two universes. Adding to my recs list.
