I've ordered samples and yardage from Spoonflower. The regular cottons would be too light for a suit and the heavy cotton twill is incredibly expensive. Make sure you wash the samples to see how well they hold up. Had some fading and in one case some permanent creases. This was after following the washing instructions. Thanks for the links I want some of that chocolate/clay/white cotton lycra. :o )
I'm actually making a Victorian-style dress. If I got something as lightweight as the cotton I'd probably flatline with broadcloth or something similar. Thanks for the info on those!
Check ebay; you never know what you may find. I recently acquired
Brown Pinstripe Wool suit for doing a fem 10. My big concern is how to get the beige stripes blue. I've only dyed wool fabric before, not a premade garment since wool needs a hot water dye and it shrinks so much. I don't really know how I'm going to get my stripes the correct color yet..
I've heard mixed reviews on the Spoonflower fabric for 10. One person mentioned it was poor quality and poor color reproduction, but neglected to mention which fabric blend they ordered.
