Romana I - Stones of Blood - shirt

Apr 20, 2012 19:47

Since several of us seem to be doing the same costume, I thought I'd share my own just-finished shirt! The rest of this costume can be pulled together fairly simply from off-the-rack pieces, but the shirt for Romana's Stone of Blood is a bit tricky.

I finally opted for purchasing the Lucy Banded Dolman from Delia's in teaberry. (It also is ( Read more... )

That looks great! Far more accurate than mine. Can't wait to see it all pulled together!

I think I like the color of yours better than mine, though, and your base shirt was really a great find!

I'm so glad to see some Classic Who costuming in the comm! Btw, penwiper, did you see my PM from the last day or so? I think that the LJ PM system is being a mess right now.

AT THE MOMENT THIS IS THE ONLY COSTUME I'VE ACTUALLY DEFINITELY FINISHED, YOU'D BETTER BELIEVE IT'S COMING. :P

This looks AMAZING! I'm working on the same costume, as I've mentioned before, and I may have to do something like this for the shirt because the one I thought would work nicely was lost in the mail! UGH. The ties look fabulous though, they look like they're meant to be there! I doubt mine will look that good. XD And I don't even have a clue how you managed to make the placket look so nice. GREAT JOB!

Oh nooo! My sympathies on the lost shirt - it's a real bugabear to find anything even close, isn't it?! Thanks for the compliments on mine - it doesn't look quite as nice close up, but pinning the heck out of things and taking teensy little hand-stitches helps. :)

I just made a separate post about it, asking for advice, but I am having MAJOR color troubles with my shirt and skirt. Ugh. I actually ended up buying the same shirt you did on Delia's! (thanks so much for posting a link to it!) But the thing is, as it stands, I now have a shirt that is almost the color that the skirt is supposed to be and a skirt that is more burgundy than red (damn internet pictures...) making it closer it the color the shirt is meant to be! I'm not sure if it's "close enough" or if I need to do some more shopping....I mean, I was planning on dyeing the blouse anyway....but I'm just not sure if the skirt will cut it. :/ It's times like this when I wish I wasn't a perfectionist...
