A "dyeing" success!

I ranted about issues I was having with dyeing fabric several days ago. I took another stab at it and was thrilled with the results!. The Dharma reactive Red Wine dye was perfect paired with a white rayon blouse. It is hard to see in the photo, but the top does have the ties strings at the neck.

That looks great! I just finished up my own blouse for this outfit (also using Dharma dyes) - yay for costume twins!

Costume Twin Powers Activate! (touching tracers)

This was an interesting project because everything came from Dharma: clothing pieces and dye (with the exception of the Rit which was left over from another project but just perfect to darken the skirt...Fire Red was just a little too pink) I think the skirt is like one half shade too dark...but I do not want to mess with it anymore.

When will you be sharing photos of your efforts? :)

You've got the wrong Romana tag on the post. ;-)

You're welcome! All part of the service. :)

And the dying job looks great! I've only seen maybe two other people do this costume, so it's cool that both you and penwiper are working on it. :)

looks awesome!

Moms going to piece my shirt together for me so hopefully we can find the right color fabric to start with. Learning from my boot dyeing project that I hate dyes with a passion! (Or maybe that's just leather dyes... don't really want to experiment to find out though)

Thank you! And BTW, this is your fault! When you posted about this outfit a bit ago it got my wheels turning I was not going to do this outfit as the color combo makes me go Huh? LOL

It actually was a cool project to do and I am more confident with dyeing now. Looking forward to seeing your version!

LOL sorry?

I decided to do this outfit just because I really love Romana I and I already did the Ribos Operation outfit and didn't really like the Pirate Planet outfit so this was the next obvious choice :)

After I finish my love hate relationship with the boots I'm dyeing I'm sure me and dyeing will be just at least on speaking terms.

isn't dying fun? i've been doing a lot of it lately, it seems. though learned my lesson that the black iDye poly gives off a slightly green sheen.

I used the regular iDye. It took many many rinse cycles to get it out of the fabric. I probably could have done 3 or 4 more, but electricity and water cost money so I will just have to be sure to launder is separately when it needs washing!
