ISO - Donna Noble shoes pics & coat help

Oct 18, 2011 17:30

Hallo! I'm about 75% done with my Donna Noble(Journey's End/Turn Left) cosplay for Chicago TARDIS & need shoe help! Does anyone have good screen shots of these shoes? I've only got pics of the standee, and it only shows that they are flat(possibly textured sole). Any help would be fantastic!

shoes/boots, convention: chicago tardis, work in progress, companion: donna noble, episodes: tse/je, question, materials, episode: turn left, pic request, alternative find, in search of - donna

When I was cosplaying that outfit, I used some comfortable brown shoes that I had already had in my closet. Not at home at the moment, so I can't check, but the brand is something like Easy Spirit/Clarke's/Naturalizer, that sort of thing. :) I'm not sure what the style would be called, but they are a type of casual loafer-type, that sits high on the top of the foot.

Try the_medusa_casade site for screencaps. Good luck!

Btw, I think that some cosplayers wear brown boots with this outfit; since the footgear is so difficult to see, I suspect that either would be fine. There was, alas, never the IDing on most of Donna and Martha's clothes that those who cosplay the characters would have liked. I'm still looking for something like Donna's wonderful brown/copper leather coat, for example.

I found an old auction of a stunt copy of the costume that ID'd the coat as Marks & Spencer, but no more than that. I'd expect one might turn up on eBay once in a while, if it was sold in regular M & S stores.

This, by the way, was from a blogger who detailed three different Bonham's auctions of DW costume pieces. (His blog is called "Making my Tennant Coat." Because the info comes from the auctioneer there are a LOT of brands and origins for items. The auctions are old, and none of it would be for sale any more, but the pics are great for reference.

I don't want to bog down a Donna discussion with other characters' stuff, but I thought I'd throw it out there on the off chance the community wasn't already familiar with this guy. If appropriate, I could make a new post sharing the links. There's stuff from MANY doctor's eras.

Thanks for the info!

Is the blogger Steve Ricks, btw? If so, he's a member and sometimes poster here.

A post sharing those links would be of great help to the comm! And I would like to link it, when posted, with the comm's other breakdown links on the profile/user info page. :)

(Only using the mod icon to show how much that post will be appreciated, when we can link to it! However, no rush. :) )

I think that's the Donna outfit that was on display at the Doctor Who Eperience in London and Cardiff: https://picasaweb.google.com/highlyamuseing/Day3Cardiff#5514631629423217538... )

Oh, I should have said that my shoes were medium brown and round-toed!

I note with interest that nor her belt nor the light purple undertop is shown at the DWE.

And this is why I LOVE this comm!! I've been doing some googling for the pic, so I've gathered that they were round toed. I was just hoping that they were either a: 1. pull on shoe, like a ankle bootie or a loafer-ish or 2. a pair of flats/mary jane-esque shoe.

I figured with all the running Catherine/Donna did, she was comfortable! There are a few options I'm going to toy with over the weekend. I'll post the options ASAP!

As for the coat, I know there's no way I'll find the "real" one. My only hope is to find a coat similar, and have someone make the "rounded" collar. That and finding the coat in my size & the right-ish color!

Yep, like said above I just had a pair of very dark brown, round-toe boots in my closet that I used. Unfortunately they are tearing apart so I'm the hunt for a new pair, too!
(edit for spelling)
