Eight Waistcoat pattern help...

beyond that confounding shawl collar, one of the trickier aspects of the Eight waistcoat is the backward swept shoulder seam.

rummaging around my pattern collection, i found one that may help, at least with this one particular detail...

the vest pattern included with Simplicity pattern #4083:

features this same back-swept shoulder seam. the belt is a bit wrong (but i'm hoping to cover that later...) however, it'll provide some insight into the shoulder seam, if nothing else.

one imagines that this would work well for those using the (highly recommended - with revisions) Simplicity pattern #2895 for their frock coat (although the vest pattern included with this pattern does not include the same back-swept shoulder seam that the coat does...)

the nice thing is that, at least for the moment, these patterns should be available at local retailers such as JoAnn and Hancock during their frequent $1 Simplicity pattern sales.
