Some time ago I had a friend who liked Doctor Who as much As I do and she loved ACE. One Halloween she bought a black jacket and asked me if she would make a good ACE. I thought I'd help her out. I bought some patches off ebay that were easiest to identify.
The NASA Enterprise Approach Landing Test Shuttle Patch
STS-51L Challenger Patch
STS-61C Columbia Patch (Season 25)/ STS-61B Atlantis Patch (Season 26)
and I was able to identify that Ace has a Gerry Anderson "Fanderson" Red+Black+White Fan Club Badge on her left side (her left-our right).
I gathered up this information and was going to give it to her, but we lost touch. I don't know if I suffered some temporary ADHD or something but I went on a quest to identify and collect all the ACE patches I could. After a year I completed my first "Popper" Doctor Who Cosplay. Well here is the information I know (or at least think I know):
Silver and Blue "Blue Peter" Badges can be see.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Peter_badge#The_types_of_Blue_Peter_badgeOn her Left Shoulder there is a British Small Arms (Motorcycle Company) BSA Badge. And a Badge for 1987, and a British Football/American Soccer Ball Badge.
on her right forearm there is an Original 1986 DC Watchmen Badge. (slightly different from the new one.)
Oh, and a box of silver safety pins seams to have exploded over the jacket.
I spent quite some time tracking this info down mostly with the help of ebay.com And ebay.co.uk - (because you get different results sometimes.)
For your Cosplay I recommend adding Velcro behind the NASA STS-61C Columbia Patch and the NASA STS-61B Atlantis Patch - So you can switch depending on the Season you want to cosplay =D
(Also Both patches and the Challenger Patch have a little extra segment you'll want to trim off the bottom that have extra names for the NASA missions - look at the patches and the pictures of Ace - you'll see what I mean)
Patches on Ace's Jacket (Recreated with Photoshop) because I can't find them for sale: now available at Spoonflower Custom Fabric
http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/308732(B.T.W. if anyone could tell me what S.B.I. stands for I'd love to know)
if you go to your local fabric store and go into the quilting section you will find there is a cloth that you can print on.
example: June Tailor Sew-In Computer Printer Fabric 4 Sheets White Fabric 8 1/2 " x 11 "
CODE
http://store.junetailor.com/store/p-20-computer-printer-fabric-white-4-sheetspack.aspx or other fine printable fabric =D
after printing I used fabric glue to attach the decals to felt.
To Make the "ACE" applique for the back of the jacket I found at Jo Ann fabrics they have stiff Felt swatches I think there 8 X 10(?) inches
I took a screen capture from Survival where Ace had her back to the Camera (Just after the Doctor and Ace left the youth center and met the Sargent for the first time)
then printed the "A" the size of a piece of paper and then taped the edges over the rigid felt and cut along the edges. It worked like a template. Then used felt glue to keep it in place as I sewed the red white and yellow pieces together.
instant applique.
I used the same principle for the Soviet star patch on the arm. Only with regular felt and used fabric paint to make the stripe.
I know there are still quite a few unidentified badges but this is as close as I can get and it makes a decent cosplay (Pictures Here

In the Show many of the Badges/Patches/ETC were attached to the M1 Bomber Jacket by Safety Pins. However if you are running away from the Cybermen, or Daleks, or Monster of the week, you may find yourself loosing your your patches. I say sew or iron the patches on and add Safety pins afterword for decoration if the mood takes you.
My friend in the Ace jacket:
http://community.livejournal.com/dw_cosplay/371322.html#cutid1 I'm starting a list of websites where many of the Patches can be purchased
However I have never bought from these companies before and I don't know if they are the best price or best service available. So Buyer be warned!!
