New Earth:

The Sisters of Plenitude

From the Q&A with Louise Page:

These headdresses are indeed what is commonly known as “Flying Nun” headdresses. Used by French nuns originally by The Sisters in the order of Saint Catherine Lahoure.  You can find out a lot more about them on the web, but we started with a balaclava, in Novice Hames’s case in gridlock, but used the proper white cotton nuns headcoverings in New Earth, followed by a cotton scullcap. The actual Cornetto is made from heavily starched cotton, which is shaped and  which almost feels like cardboard when they are starched by a professional laundry and were made up by my milliner. They fold into shape and are quite fragile if knocked about! They then sit on top of the skullcap and are quite snug so they don’t shift about too much.  Also, you have to make sure the ears are well consealed, (as they are cats not humans) so we put a bit of padding over their ears to smooth out the silhouette.

School Reunion:

Sarah Jane Smith -

NOTE: Sarah Jane Smith was a very important companion. She was no longer a companion by series 2 and does not currently have her own breakdown, which is why she has been included.

River:

NOTE - River has been included in this because, as of series 4 she was no a companion or reoccurring character. Only items from this series have been included and this may be removed once there is a breakdown of River.

From the Q&A from Louse Page:

The spacesuits were adapted  from a particular type of racing driver suit.  I searched the country high & low looking for enough the same! Then they had to be chopped up and remade! The fabric was flame retardant and slightly quilted. The collars were made by Millenium effects as were the helmets. The boots were moon boots and the gloves were ski gloves.

From th Q&A with Louise Page

Oh! This is one of my most favourite purchased outfits for a guest artiste ever! As I only had 2 hours shopping time and had lined this outfit up for Alex hoping it would work! And she looked so beautiful in it. The dress was actually purchased in the Selfridges sale (otherwise I couldn’t have afforded it) and was from AMANDA WAKELEY. It was ivory silk satin.

The cardigan was all over sequins on knitted cashmere!!!!!!!!!!!! And was DONNA KAREN. Many £ !!!! but she did look like she’d fallen from heaven!

Planet of the Dead:

Christina De Souza

In this special Christina wear a black leather Karen Miller jacket.

The Next Doctor:

“The Doctor”

From the Q&A with Louise Page

The idea behind the costume for Jackson Lake was for us to give a nod to William Hartnell’s doctor (or so Russell suggested at the tone meeting). Obviously, it is a Victorian episode, and therefore the silhouette is from the period. The costume was designed by me and made in a week , via the Costume House workrooms with 2 full costumes and several spare pairs of trousers for the sleigh scene, and the cape coat which is only seen briefly.  I had already selected and purchased the fabrics I wanted to use for the costume and had them approved by Russell so that once David was cast it was all systems go as time was in very short supply.  I had actually worked with David many years previously when he first left drama school, and he is lovely to work with.  We wanted him to be believable as a Doctor but obviously within the period the episode is set. I’m very pleased with the way that costume worked out and consider it to be my other ”Doctor” costume design!
