FIC: Green With Envy - Part 4.1

Sep 16, 2008 09:51

Dear readers,

I'm sorry, I really haven't done any writing since I got back. I've been very busy with all the usual post-wedding/honeymoon tasks - creating photo albums, visiting parents, putting things away. And I have this non-DWP Halloween fic involving Harley/Ivy (with a dash of Wicked) that really doesn't want me to wait until October to write it.

So all I can offer in the meantime is this . . . I don't know, a teaser? Part 4A? 4.1?

Hope this tides people over :)

Sincerely, Allaine

Harley Quinn was not what one would call a "loner". She was, in fact, outgoing, cheerful, talkative, friendly, and just an all-around swell girl. People person, yep, that was her. You couldn't say an unkind word about her.

(Well, okay, maybe some people could. And had. But these people had no sense of humor.)

As of that moment, however, she didn't feel like talking. She'd had a chat with Red. And she didn't like it.

Oh, Harley, of course I broke out to work on my formula. But I just couldn't get Andrea out of my mind, you know. I HAD to put my work aside and see her. And well, the time gets away from me when we're together.

Red never “put her work aside” for Harley. It was always “go watch some cartoons until I’m finished, Harl. There are Frosted Flakes in the cabinet”.

Sister? Wherever did you get such a silly idea . . . Oh, well, the rumor mill does get it wrong sometimes, you know. I don't have a sister named Patricia . . . didn’t you say her name was Patricia? I’m sure you mentioned it.

She had lied to Harley. Lied to her face!

Oh, Harley, don't worry your pretty little head. Of course we'll still be friends. We can still - we can talk on the phone, at least. Perhaps a double date some time.

A "double date" was looking a lot less appealing than it did that morning.

Hm, did you say something, Harley? I was just remembering something.

Harley grabbed her pillow, pressed it over her face, and screamed into it.

How could Red like this Andrea girl more than her? She was always going on and on about how Harley should leave Mistah J and come live with her, how much she could use a full-time sidekick, how good it was to see her again. And now Harley was yesterday's news, last year's shoes, cold pizza, voted off the island, three day old fish, a bag of moldy tangerines!

It was all this Andrea's fault. Oh sure, she supposed she should be happy for Red, but was Red ever happy for Harley and Puddin'? Heck no! It was always "He wouldn't try to shove your face into the blender if he loved you, Harley!" and "Two black eyes and a missing tooth aren't the foundation for a healthy relationship, Harley!"

Andrea simply didn't have all the information. She didn't know that Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn belonged together. She didn't realize there was no room for a third person (except for Mistah J, but that was different).

So Harley was going to have to tell her. (And maybe kill her.)
