Miranda Priestly was a powerful woman, and she loved it! Being able to reduce grown men into a crying mess, however harsh it may seem, thrilled her. Having spent many years building a strong wall around herself, and devloping this cold, icy demeanoure allowed her to demand whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. But occasionally, and very rarely, there were times when her power and harsh words couldn't get what she wanted, which was to get back into Manhattan instead of being stuck across town due to snow covering the roads and being stuck in peak hour traffic.
The reason for her leaving the photo shoot and demanding Roy take her back to Manhattan nearly had Miranda's walls collapsing around her. There was only two other times when this had happened. The first being when Cassidy had broken her wrist, and the second when both girls had fallen sick while she had been away on location for a photo-shoot in Italy. Both time's she had been worried sick. Today was no different, she was worried sick, but it wasn't for her girls, no it was for Andrea Sachs. She had admitted to herself that her feelings grew deeper than what she should feel for and employee a few weeks before Paris Fashion Week.
She tapped her fingers on the door handle of the towncar as she anxiously sat staring out of the window, but not really seeing anything that was happening outside, her thoughts were about Andrea, hoping that the young woman was okay. She couldn't help but remember what had happened that had herself so worked up.
Earlier.
"I'm leaving for my 11:30 appointment, and will be out of the office for at least an hour. I want the two of you to stay here and answer the phones." Miranda said as she strolled out of her office into the assistants area, "I want an appointment made for Cassidy at the Dentist, and Patricia need's to see the Vet. I want to see the photo's from the shoot yesterday on my desk when I arrive back along with a coffee."
"Yes, Miranda." Emily said.
"Of course, Miranda." Andrea said.
Miranda stopped in front of Andrea to take her coat and bag from the young woman. She took in the frightenly pale skin and the sheen of sweat on the brunette's forehead and felt a pang of worry shoot through her. Was she pushing Andrea that hard she was causing her to fall ill? No, that thought was ridiculous. It was chilly out so she no doubt had an edge of a cold.
As much as Miranda wanted to tell Andrea to take the rest of the day off and rest up a bit, she knew that would be out of character of her and unfair to Emily who has many of times come into the office with a cold.
With another look at the brunette, Miranda turned and started down the hall.

An hour later found Miranda sitting in the studio of a new designer that she'd had her eyes on for a couple of months. She was devouring every peice of clothing the woman showed her. She couldn't wait to put them in the next issue and be able to help the young designer to become well known all around the world.
Her phone started ringing and she looked down at it and sighed when she saw it was Emily calling. "Emily, whatever it is, can wait until I get back. I don't have time for any interruptions." she said coldy as she answered.
"Miranda, it's Nigel. It's absolute chaos over here. Andrea collapsed and was rushed off to hospital, and now Emily is panicking and barely holding it together and I fear that she'll faint if she doesn't calm down, and I can't have that happen because I don't know how to hold the fort until you get back!" The Art Director said frantically to Miranda.
Miranda sat, frozen to her chair, as the words 'Andrea collapsed' played over and over in her mind. "What.. what happened to Andrea? Is she alright?" she asked, finally, her voice sounding small.
"The paramedics who came didn't tell us anything, they took her to Presbyterian." Nigel replied.
"Thank you for telling me, Nigel." Miranda replied, before she disconnected the phone and closed her eyes as she tried to get her emotions under control.
"Are you alright?" A soft, timid voice asked from in front of her.
Miranda's eyes snapped open and she glared at the designer in front of her. "Yes, fine. I've seen enough here for today, and I will have Emily contact you with the details of your designs being shown in Runway tomorrow. That's all." she said and breezed past the surprised woman and made her way towards the doors. "Presbyterian, step on it Roy!" she demanded when she slid inside the warm towncar.

Present Time.
"How much longer do you think it'll be?" Miranda snapped, looking at Roy in the rear-view mirror.
"They've just finished clearing the roads up ahead, shouldn't be much longer now." Roy said from his seat in the front of the car.
"Good." Miranda replied, pulling her coat more tightly around herself, hoping like nothing that Andrea was alright.
Fourty Five Minutes Later.
Miranda swept through the doors of the Presbyterian Hospital and up to the front desk. "Miranda Priestly to see Andrea Sachs." she firmly said to the woman behind the desk.
The middle aged woman looked up at her. "Are you a relative?"
"Miranda." The older woman heard from behind her and Miranda spun around on her heels to see Andrea walking up to her. Miranda sighed in relief at seeing the young woman she cared dearly for. "Are you alright?" she asked softly, needing to know, her eyes pleading.
Andrea's eyes widened slightly at what she saw in the older womans eyes, before going back to normal. Miranda could tell that Andrea had figured out that she was asking because she geniunely cared. "Um, yeah." Andy replied, beginning to turn around. "Where's the car?"
"I wasn't sure how long I'd be so I told Roy to find a parking spot." Miranda replied.
"Oh." Andy said before continuing. "I'll call him then and get him back out front." she said, beginning to search around her bag for her cell.
Miranda watched as Andrea's hand, which she noticed was shaking furiously, dig around in her bag. She walked the rest of the distance to stand in front of the young woman and laid a hand on Andrea's, stilling her movements. "I'll call him, you just calm down." she said, softly but firmly.
Andy looked up into her eyes, searching them silently, before shaking her head.
Miranda nodded. "Good." she said, before taking out her phone and flipping it open and calling Roy. "Be back out the front in two minutes." she said before disconnecting and turned her gaze back to Andrea. "Come." She said, and started towards the sliding doors with Andrea next to her, their shoulders touching.
As expected, Roy was waiting by the curb in front of the hospital and he jumped out when he saw them both and opened the door for the fashion maven before going around to open Andy's.
Once they were settled in the car, Roy started the engine and drove out of the hospital car park and out on the busy New York street.
The car was silent, and Miranda found it worrying because Andrea was usually very chatty. Now, not hearing Andrea's cheerful voice, Miranda found that she had grown used to hearing the endless chatter in the car or elsewhere. She turned and saw that Andrea sat, unmoving, as she stared out the window. The older woman doubted that Andrea was actually seeing anything that went past.
"What happened?" Miranda asked, not being able to stand the silence. She watched as Andrea's hands began fidgeting in her lap. "Andrea." she said, resting a hand on one of Andrea's like earlier. "Tell me, please." she said, the last word being whispered ever so softly.
Andy breathed in deeply, and looked back out the window. "Miscarriage." she said, not saying anything more.
Miranda stared at the brunette, her mouth opening but nothing coming out. She couldn't imagine what Andrea could be going through right now. She wanted nothing to open her arms and hold Andrea, and whisper reassuring words into her ear that everything would get better, because she didn't know what Andrea's reaction would be to such a thing. "Oh Andrea, I'm-" she got cut off by the brunette who turned to her.
"Miranda, it's fine. You don't need to say anything." Andy said, her tone emotionless.
"Andrea, I'm.. believe it or not.. here if you want to talk about it or anything else for that matter." Miranda said, her voice soft and warm. She even squeezed Andrea's hand for extra emphasize.
Andy looked into Miranda's eyes and gave the older woman a small smile before she turned to look back out of the window. The car fell silent again for a few minutes before Andy spoke. "Just take me to my apartment please, Roy." she then quickly turned to Miranda. "Unless you need me for anything?"
"Don't be silly." Miranda said with a shake of her head. "You're staying home and resting until I say so!"
Andy smiled at Miranda and boldly reached over with her left hand and placed it on Miranda's right hand. "Thank you." she breathed, before looking back out the window, her hand not moving. She felt a warmth bubble up inside of her when she felt Miranda rubbing her thumb over her hand.
The car came to a stop soon after in front of her shabby, run down apartment building. She took her hand from Miranda's and collected her bag. She then looked into Miranda's eyes and smiled at her. "Thanks for coming to get me, you don't know how much it means to me."
Miranda waved a hand. "It's fine. Now go rest." she replied.
Andy nodded, their eyes lingering for a couple more minutes, before Miranda watched the young woman slip out of the car into the chilly afternoon air before disappearing into her apartment building.
Knowing she needed to get back to Runway, she told Roy, before sitting back against the leather seat, closed her eyes to get her emotions back in control for her arrival.

That Night. 9:30.
Miranda had arrived home to her townhouse an hour earlier, but with the girls away at their Father’s for the weekend and having the house to herself, she had found herself aimlessly wondering the halls, her thoughts about Andrea and wondering if she was doing better than before.
But now she found herself standing in front of Andrea's old, rusted apartment door, raising a hand and knocking. She wasn't sure what she was doing, what she would say to Andrea, or not even giving thought to what the young woman would think of her just rocking up at this time of night, uninvited. All she knew was that she needed to see the brunette, make sure she was alright and if she wasn't if there was anything that she could do. She was pulled from her thoughts when the door was opened and she was looking at a very dishevelled and distraught brunette.
"Miranda, what.. what are you doing here?" Andrea said, the surprise clear in her voice from Miranda being on the other side of her door.
Miranda watched as the young woman looked down at herself, then back to Miranda, clearly unsure of what Miranda's reaction would be in wearing such clothing she was in; a Northwestern Hoodie with sweat pants.
"Andrea, I just came to see how you are going." Miranda said finally, not caring at all about the clothing the brunette had on (she still looked beautiful as always) and instead was caring about how she was feeling. "Are you alright?"
Andy shrugged. "I don't know." she replied, wiping at her nose with a tissue. "I'm still shocked. It was just so unexpected, and I don't know how I should be feeling." she admitted, throughout speaking she had moved aside and opened the door wider for Miranda to enter.
Miranda took the opportunity and stepped inside the apartment, stopping just inside the door as Andrea closed it behind her.
"Excuse the mess." Andy said. "I haven't had the chance to clean it."
Miranda shook her head. "I'm not looking at the mess, I'm looking at you." she replied, and turned to look at her, the brunette looking back at her with surprised eyes. The older woman gave Andrea a small smile before she walked over to a very worn couch and regally sat down.
"Um, so.. so did you want a drink or something to eat?" Andy asked after a couple silent minutes went by of not knowing what on earth she should say when Miranda was watching her so intently.
"Only if you're going to have something." Miranda replied.
"Oh, ah, alright then." Andy replied, quickly moving across to the kitchen and getting out another two bottle's of beer from the fridge. She opened them before getting a glass for Miranda and making her way over to the older woman. "I hope this is alright?" she asked, as she set it in front of Miranda.
The older woman looked at the beer, before she nodded her head. She hadn't had beer in a while, it would be a nice change and she voiced those thoughts to the brunette.
"So, um, was there anything else that you wanted?" Andy asked once she was settled into the couch on the other end from Miranda, looking down at her beer bottle that she was peeling the label off. She saw from the corner of her eye Miranda picking up the bottle of beer and taking a sip from it. The sight, she had to admit, was a turn on, and she swallowed hard at the feelings that were bubbling up inside of her from the sight.
Sure, Andy knew she had an attraction for her boss, but never let herself think too much of it and hope that something could happen with the older woman because it wouldn't as Miranda was so very out of her league.
"No, like I said, I just wanted to see how you were." Miranda replied.
Andy sighed at the ever so soft voice, and closed her eyes as it sent a shiver down her spine.
"How are you feeling?" Miranda asked, touching Andrea softly on the shoulder, as she watched the womans facial expressions closely. She could tell she was having an effect on the young woman and it excited her.
"As expected." Andy replied.
Miranda nodded. "Mm. If you want to talk.." she trailed off.
They were both silent for a couple of minutes before Andy took Miranda up on the offer and started talking. "I didn't even know I was pregnant. I was nearly two months along. You would think I would have known? Sure, I felt a little queasy a few times, but I never thought I'd be pregnant. I mean, I don't make a habit of sleeping with men." she explained, and before the older woman was able to say anything she continued. "I never gave thought about becoming pregnant. I've always seen myself being with a woman, and if we were to have a child then she would carry it. But now, after finding out I had been but not anymore, I feel devastated. It hit me so hard, and I haven't been able to stop crying since you dropped me home." she sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I'm just shocked that I feel this way when I've never wanted to be pregnant." tears were welling in her eyes again, and they started falling when she felt Miranda's soft hand cupping her cheek. "I'm sorry." she said through her tears, trying to calm herself down but was failing miserably.
"Nonsense." Miranda replied and shook her head. "Let it all out, darling." she replied, before taking her hand away from Andrea's cheek only to hold her arm out. "Come here." she breathed. Teary brown eyes stared at her for a moment before Andrea nodded and scooted across the small space between them on the couch and snuggled into Miranda, the older woman pulling Andrea tightly against her, rubbing soothing circles on the young womans back as Andrea cried. She closed her eyes when she felt tears pricking at her own, and she breathed in deeply.
As Andy's tears began to subside, she breathed in deeply, Miranda's scent filled her nose and caused her to moan softly. She loved the smell, and the feel of the older woman, and wasn't looking forward to having Miranda leave. She pulled away, slowly, but still being held by the older woman and stared into teary blue eyes. She then looked down at Miranda's thin lips, and back into her eyes, and back to her lips before coming to a silent and bold decision, leaning forward and captured Miranda's mouth with her own. She moaned into Miranda's mouth when the older woman began kissing her back, before she put her arms around Miranda's neck to pull her closer and deepen the kiss.
For so long now both women had wanted this, to kiss and feel one another, and it was finally happening. Their passionate kiss went on for a while, before Andrea pulled away, both to breath in much needed air.
Miranda stared into brown eyes, and ran her fingers through brunette hair. "You're so beautiful." she said, trailing her fingers ever so softly down Andrea's pale cheek. A small smile tugged at her lips when a faint blush made it's way to Andrea's cheeks. "So beautiful." she breathed again, leaning forward to place soft kisses all over Andrea's face.
"I can say the same about you." Andy replied softly, staring into Miranda's eyes when Miranda stopped kissing her, that were sparkling. She was overcome by how much love she saw in them, and tears began forming in her eyes from it. She couldn't believe Miranda was in her home like this, in her arms and kissing her, it was all very overwhelming in her already distraught state.
"Are you alright?" Miranda asked softly, worry evident in her voice.
Andy smiled. "Yes, better than alright." she breathed, before claimingg Miranda's mouth with her own again and kissing her with so much love and passion that she knew Miranda could tell what she was feeling through the kiss. "Will you stay with me tonight?" she asked, her voice small, when she pulled away from the kiss.
Miranda smiled at the nervous look on Andrea's face. "I don't want to be anywhere else." she murmured before they began kissing again.
"This is so surreal." Andy breathed, when the older woman began peppering soft kisses along her cheek and down her neck. She felt Miranda smile against her. "You don't know how long I've wanted this. Wanted you." she said, threading her fingers through Miranda's hair, before pulling Miranda's head up to kiss her again and again, their lips lingering softly on the other, both breathing in deeply, staring into each others eyes. "You're amazing." Andy breathed. "And you look totally hot drinking beer straight from the bottle, by the way." Andrea breathed, causing the older woman to laugh, the delicious noise filling the brunette's ears like music.
"Oh Andrea-" Miranda began, but was stopped when Andrea's lips crushed onto hers again and her words were swallowed by the brunette's hungry mouth.
Andrea, not worrying about anything anymore, fell into the kiss and in the moment she was sharing with Miranda, putting everything she was feeling into the kiss and decided that if she were with Miranda then everything would be alright.
