Four Days Later.

Miranda sat in her study as she looked down at The Book. It was the issue for next month but nothing appeared the way she wanted  it. She growled in frustration at having crossed out another error she saw.

She flipped back through it and saw that nearly every page had red marker crossed and scribbled down it. With another sigh Miranda closed The Book in annoyance.

It had been three days since she'd held her wife in her arms and it was starting to get to her. She just wanted to hear Andrea's voice and to know if she was okay. Pushing away from her desk she stood from her chair and she walked towards the door. She stopped when Roxy came padding over to and began whimpering at her.

It suddenly dawned on her that she hadn't given her wifes dog much attention these past few days. And that said dog must be missing Andrea terribly seeing as they spend a lot of time together, either going for runs and playing in the park or a lazy day on the couch together.
Feeling extremely guilty she bent down and patted Roxy lovingly on her head and behind her ears. The sad look in the huskys eyes went slightly from Miranda's attention. Once she spent some time with Roxy, Miranda glanced around the house sadly before she sighed and decided that she'd go up and try to get some sleep. Her girls were already asleep and Alex was downstairs all that she needed was her Andrea with her and everything would be perfect.

She flicked off the kitchen light but left the hall light on, just incase.

Once she'd washed off her make-up and changed into her night clothes she laid in the bed and looked longily at the empty space beside her. She hated that the police still hadn't heard anything about her wife. She'd barely slept these last couple of nights which meant that she'd turned up to work in an absolutely rotten mood.

Just as she had begun dosing the loud howling from Roxy behind the closed bedroom door startled her. She sighed in annoyance. She didn't feel like getting up and sighed again in relief when she heard Alex on the other side of the door hissing for Roxy to go with her.

Alex, finally having Roxy with her, began walking back down the staircase with the beloved husky trailing behind her. "We gotta let Miranda sleep. She's had it tough these past few days." Alex said softly, looking down at Roxy.

Half An Hour Later.

Alex stood from the couch and pointed at Roxy who was laying by the tv watching her. "Stay there." she warned before she headed towards the bathroom and she heard Roxy huff behind her.

When the bathroom door closed Roxy stood and again made her way up the two flights of stairs to the master bedroom where she pushed open the door that had been left slightly open. She padded over and jumped onto the bed before nestling herself into Miranda's side.
Alex exited the bathroom and looked around the small area. She sighed when she saw Roxy no where in sight and she exited the basement and made her way back to the second floor. She saw that the master bedroom door was open and she quietly walked down towards it.

She saw Roxy snuggled up next to Miranda who was laying on her side. At least she wasn't howling anymore, Alex thought. "I'm sorry Miranda, she left when I turned my back for a few moments." Alex said apologetically.

Miranda didn't mind so much though as Roxy was keeping her warm but it just wasn't her Andrea. "It's fine Alexandra. I don't think she'll be howling anymore if she's allowed in here with me." she replied.

Alex nodded. "Alright well I'll see you in the morning." she said. "Try and get some rest." she added before she turned and left.

Miranda sighed. Getting some rest was easier said than done because all Miranda was able to think about was Andrea and if her wife was okay.

The Next Morning.

"Hey. I just read your email about what's happened. Are you alright? Have you heard anything about Andy?" Lana asked as she and Cassidy just started up a Skype conversation.

Cassidy sighed. "We've heard nothing yet. Mum isn't going too well. She's pretending she's fine but really she isn't. I just wish there was more that I could do instead of sititng around here waiting."

"I know babe. There's nothing that I can really say to make you feel any better but all I can say is that I am here for you if you need to talk." Lana replied. "And also that I really wish I was there right now to give you a big hug."

Cassidy smiled at her girlfriend. "Thank you. You're amazing." she said softly. "I seriously have no idea what i'd do without you. I think i'd lose it completely."

"You'll always have me, Cass." Lana said seriously.

Cassidy's heart fluttered at Lana's words. "How have things been going over there?" she asked, hoping to lighten the conversation.

Miranda entered the kitchen like she would every other morning but usually she'd smile at the sight of her wife cooking her breakfast. She hated walking into the kitchen and not seeing Andrea.

Instead she saw Alex sitting at the island counter on a bar stool.

Alex shook her head at her, meaning that she hadn't heard anything from the police that morning. Miranda sighed. She walked over to the coffee machine and began making herself one. She felt absolutely helpless just sitting around waiting for news on her love. She wished there was something else that she could do but she knew that she couldn't get involved too much with the police as she wanted everything to go as smoothly as possible.

"Did you want me to stay home today? I can keep you company." Alex said after she finished the rest of her coffee.

Miranda gave her a small smile. "That's kind of you to offer but I'm thinking of going into the office again today. I can't sit around here all day, it would drive me insane." she replied.

Alex nodded. "That's totally understandable. But if you were to stay home and go slightly insane that would also be okay too."

"Even so I need to keep myself occupied." Miranda replied.

Caroline and Cassidy soon came downstairs. "Anything?" Caroline asked.

Miranda shook her head.

"God. Where is she?" Caroline asked. She hated seeing her mother so upset and worried and she herself was getting pretty spooked about it all.

"I wish we knew sweetheart. I wish we knew." Miranda replied sadly.

That Night.

Alex was laying in bed staring up at the ceiling. She'd been having the same problem as Miranda and not getting much sleep as thoughts of Andy invaded her mind.

Just as she gave up on sleep and sat up in the double bed her phone began to ring. She picked it up and connected it straight away but not before catching the "Unknown Number" flashing on the screen. "Hello?" she asked.

"Hey. It's me."

"Andy? Oh my god. Thank god, I'm so glad to be hearing your voice." Alex said. "Where are you?" she asked.

"Um," Andy said and it was only now that she looked around at her surroundings. She saw a street sign down the road. "I'm near the corner of 22nd Ave and 59th Street."

"Alright. Stay there. I'm coming to get you." Alex replied.

Andy remained silent.

"Did you want me to get Miranda?" Alex asked as she pulled on a jumper before grabbing her keys. "We'll come together."

"Just get her to wait at the hospital." Andy replied.

Alex frowned. "Are you sure?"

"I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't." Andy replied a little more harshly than she had meant. "Look," she sighed. "I don't need the guys showing up and her seeing something I don't want her seeing. Just tell her to wait for me and I'll be there with her soon."

"Right. I'll be there soon." Alex replied.

"Yeah, just hurry up. I'm freezing. And I don't know how long I have until they find out I'm gone." Andy replied.

"Hang in there." Alex said and just before she hung up. "I love you Andy."

Andy swallowed hard and felt her eyes welling up. "I love you too." and with that she hung up the pay phone and slumped against the wall.

Alex took the steps three at a time before she reached the first floor. She was about to go to the second when she saw a light on down the hall in the sitting room. She quickly made her way down there and she found Miranda asleep on the couch.

"Miranda." She said and shook the woman. "Miranda, wake up."

Miranda, startled, opened her eyes. "What? What's happened?" she asked.

"Andy called. She's in Brooklyn. I'm going to go pick her up." Alex said.

"Oh. Oh thank god." Miranda replied and closed her eyes for a second. "I'm coming with you." she said and jumped up from the couch.

Alex shook her head. "She wants you to wait at the hospital for her."

"How can she expect me to just agree and wait for her? I need to see her now." Miranda replied.

"What if they show up, huh? Can you defend yourself? No, and you can't expect me to protect the both of you." Alex replied. "So just for once do what you've been asked and wait for her at the hospital!"

Miranda stared at Alex in slight surprise for a moment at the womans boldness to stand up to her. Though Miranda wasn't sure why she was surprised because ever since she knew the other woman she knew she had a temper. Thinking that Alex was right, that she wouldn't be able to defend herself, she sighed. "Fine. I'll wait for you both."

"Good." Alex breathed. "I'll call if anything happens, which hopefully, it won't."

Miranda nodded. "Please do. Tell her that I love her."

"Tell her yourself when you see her!" Alex said over as she made her way towards the door.

When the front door closed down the hall Miranda picked up her cell and dialed Emily's number.

"Hello Miranda? Is Andy home?" Emily asked. She'd currently been clothes shopping on the net, also unable to sleep due to thoughts of Alex and a missing Andy, when she'd seen that Miranda was calling. She knew that this phone call was either going to be good or bad news and she hoped to god it was good news.

"She called Alexandra just then and she's going to pick her up." Miranda replied. "Now I need you to call Presbyterian Hospital and tell them to expect us."

Emily was already up out of bed ready to do the things needed at the news that Andy was alright. "I'll call the hospital and let them know you'll be there soon. And then I'll go make my way there to sort out the paperwork they'll no doubt have."

Miranda sighed, thankful that she had Emily. "Thank you." she breathed.

"I'll always be here for you, Miranda." Emily replied softly.

"I know." Miranda replied. "That's all." she added in true Priestly fashion.

Emily couldn't help but chuckle before she dialed the hospital.

Brooklyn.

Alex drove slowly down the street that Andy had said she was in. She slammed her foot on the brake when she saw Andy sitting against a wall with her head tilted slightly to the side. She parked the car and quickly got out. "Andy." she said as she got closer to the brunette.

Andy looked up at her wearily before jolting up. "I fell asleep." she said. "How could I let myself fall asleep?" she asked more to herself than to Alex.

"Don't worry about that now, you're safe." Alex replied as she bent slightly and put an arm around Andy and pulled her up into a standing posistion. "I'm not even going to ask if you're alright because clearly you're not."

She walked Andy over to the car and helped her inside.

Once sitting Andy laid her head back against the soft seat. It was luxury compared to sleeping on hard concrete.

"Here. Put this on." Alex said, handing Andy a jumper.

Andy took the jumper and put it over her head while Alex closed her door before going around to the drivers side.

"Let's get you to your wife." Alex said as she started the cars engine.

Andy's only reply was a nod as she curled up in the seat and laid her head on the window and she stared blankly at the buildings that they passed.

When they reached the hospital Alex was about to help Andy out but the brunette waved her away. "I can walk myself in."

"Okay." Alex replied and watched as Andy gingerly stood from the car before Alex locked it and they slowly made their way towards the ER entrance.

"You didn't tell Mum, did you?" Andy asked.

"We made a deal, remember?" Alex replied. "Of course I didn't. Miranda had been about to but I told her not to."

"Good. It's something she needs to hear from me and to know that i'm alright." Andy replied

They entered through the doors and Andy spotted Miranda who'd stood immediately when she'd entered the room.

"Oh Andrea. Thank god." Miranda said as she walked over to her wife and pulled Andy into her arms. She was glad to have the love of her life back with her.
