Andy slowly pulled off her tank top and turned around to look at the bruise that was forming on her right shoulder blade from her run in with the taxi driver the previous night. She'd had Alex pick her up so she didn't have to walk the 15 blocks to the townhouse.

"You alright?" Alex asked when she caught sight of the nasty looking bruise before opening up her locker and shoving her bag inside.

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just pissed off."

"Did you get his ID?" Alex asked.

"Yeah but it's not him." Andy replied as she handed the card to Alex.

Alex grabbed it and looked at the card.

"They look slightly similiar but it's not him." Andy said.

"I bet Miranda wants to rip the guy to shreds for assaulting you." Alex said.

Andy looked at Alex. "I haven't told her."

"Why not? She'd want to know." Alex replied.

"Yeah, I just didn't want to worry her." Andy replied.

Alex shrugged. "It's your choice if you tell her or not but I think she'd wanna know."

"I might." Andy replied as she began putting on her work shirt.

"Have you filed a report?" Bree asked from where she stood in front of her locker.

"Oh. I was going to but I can hardly file a report on him just because he didn't have a GPS." Andy replied.

"But he assaulted you." Alex said.

"He hardly did anything. I was the one who assaulted him." Andy replied.

"What happened?" Dom asked as he walked into the locker room.

"Nothing." Andy replied, getting annoyed with all of the fuss.

Alex shook her head as she opened her locker. She thought it was ridiculous that Andy wasn't reporting the guy. Getting an idea she grabbed her phone and sent off a text to Doug asking him to get as much information on Andy's attacker as he could.

Runway Offices.

Miranda was sitting in her chair looking out the windows at the New York skyline when she heard the clacking of Emily's heels behind her as she younger woman entered her office.

"I have the photographs from yesterdays shoot and the shoes and skirts from Prada." Emily said just as Miranda turned around to face her. "I also just got a call from Donatella, she's going to be in New York over the weekend and wants to meet with you for lunch on Saturday so I managed to fit it into your schedule."

Miranda sighed. She was in no mood for seeing Donatella and the woman chose the wrong day to arrange to have lunch with her as Miranda was going to try her best to show up to her daughters basketball match. "I've no idea what she wants to see me about when I talked to her not even a week ago." she said and she saw the slight surprise in Emily's eyes. It was rare when Miranda would start a conversation with her.

Emily opened and closed her mouth trying to say something, anything, but nothing came out. "Well, I suppose maybe it's about this new line she's trying to come up with?" she finally managed to say, her heart pounding in her chest as she held her breath as she waited for Miranda's reply.

"Yes, it'll probably be that. I won't be surprised if I get bored senseless listening to her rattle on about it." Miranda replied before looking at Emily again and she couldn't help but smirk at the woman.

"Go pick up that watch Andrea was eyeing the other day and then bring it to me with a coffee." Miranda said, her eyes going back down to look at her laptop screen.

"Yes Miranda." Emily replied before turning around on her heel and quickly leaving Miranda's office. Walking past her desk she grabbed her purse before clacking her way down the halls with a small smile on her face.

~*~

About An Hour Later.

Alex entered a Starbucks and wandered over to the counter.

"I'll have a---" she listened to a familiar English voice say in front of her give her order.

The woman in front of her happened to turn around and their eyes connected for the quickest of moments before the woman who Alex recognized was Emily Charlton, quickly wipped her head back around.

"Oh my god." Emily thought. Alex was someone who she had tried to not think about for a fair while now and it had been going quite well up until now as all of her thoughts about the other woman were coming back to her.

"Hey. It's Emily, isn't it?" Alex asked.

Emily turned back to her and stared at for a minute before she came back to herself. "Yes, yes Emily Charlton. That's me." she replied with a slight laugh.

Alex nodded glad that she had the name right.

They were silent until Emily got her coffee and bag of food and she stood awkwardly by the counter. "Um, you can sit and chat with me if you want to." Alex offered as she accepted her drink before wandering over to a vacant table.

Emily thought for a moment, wondering if it was a good idea because she knew that being late with Miranda's coffee was a bad idea. Deciding that a few moments with Alex was worth it she sat down with the other woman. Emily was now back to think and lusting after a woman she wasn't able to be with.

~*~

After grabbing a bite to eat Alex got in the passenger side of the car whilst she waited for Andy and Nate. She pulled out the ID card of the cab driver that had assaulted Andy the previous night and glanced down at it. She wanted to find him and make an arrest so they could question him about why he did what he did. Also for why he had a fake ID.

"I'm driving." Andy said as she pushed Nate out of her way and went to the drivers side, grinning at Nate at his annoyed expression.
"Andy get out of the car, it's my turn to drive." Nate replied.

Andy just started the cars engine as she continued to grin.

Nate sighed before getting into the back. "You are a child."

Andy's only reply was laughter as she pulled out onto the bustling street.

~*~

"We've been shot at. I repeat we have been shot at." Andy said into the cars radio.

"Are you alright?" Doug asked.

"Were fine but a woman has been shot and need an ambulance immediately." Andy replied.

Alex looked out at the woman laying on the cement on the other side of the street. "I can't just sit here and watch her suffer. I'm going out there." she said to Andy just as a woman out of nowhere ran over to the woman laying wounded on the ground to help her.

"Wow. Now that is an amazing woman to do that, risk her life for a total stranger." Andy said. Sure, it was what she did every day on the job, but it was her job. But this woman was not a Police Officer and it was not expected.

Alex shook her head. "I have to go out there and help." she said before she got out of the car just as another few shots were fired.

She ducked down in front of the car and Andy, not able to just sit and do nothing either, soon joined her, thankful that no more shots had been made. "Where did the shots come from?" She asked.

"I'm not sure, somewhere behind us." Alex replied, looking over at the red haired woman who was trying to help the wounded woman. Looking more closely at the woman her eyes widened. "That's Emily."

Andy looked at her. "What?"

"Emily, Miranda's assistant, she's helping the woman." Alex replied.

"Shit, it is too." Andy said when she turned to look at her.

"Stay where you are." Alex shouted, seeing a group of people who were on the other side of the street that had started to move. "Just get down and stay there."

"I'm going over there on the count of 3." Alex said.

"What?" Andy said. "No, You can't. For all we know they'll just fire at you!"

"1, 2," Alex began, clearly ignored Andy. "3!" she said before jumping up and running as fast as she could accross the street.

"She just does not listen!" Andy said with a shake of her head before grabbing the first aid kit and running accross the street to help Alex.

"Just take some deep breaths for me." Alex said as she examined the shot to the womans leg when Emily pulled her hands away. "The ambulance is on their way." she then put her own hands on the gun shot wound to try and stop the bleeding before looking up at Emily who was staring at the now unconcious woman. "You alright?"

It took a minute for Emily to register that Alex had said something to her and looked up at her blankly. "Yes, no, I think so." she replied.

~*~

Once they were certain that there weren't going to be anymore shots fired they got the paramedics over to the wounded woman and they checked her out but said there was nothing they could do for her.

Hearing this Emily stood on shakey legs. "There must be something that you can do?"

Andy came up to Emily and put a hand on the womans tense shoulder. "Come on." she said and walked the English woman away from the paramedics. "Did you want me to call Miranda and tell her you won't be going back in?"

Emily shook her head. "No, I need to go back in. There's a ton of things I need to do."

"You're in shock, I'm sure Miranda will understand if you don't do them today. So just go home." Andy replied.

"I'm absolutely fine," Emily replied, seeming to come back to herself. "I'll call Roy and I'll be on my way back to Runway. I cannot leave Miranda with that second assistant." she said as she pulled out her phone.

Andy sighed. "If you're sure."

"I'm sure." Emily replied firmly as she raised her phone to her ear.

Once Emily left with Roy, Andy pulled out her cell and pressed Miranda's speed dial. The phone rang a couple of times before it was picked up.
"As much as I would love to chat darling I'm having a very hectic day." Miranda said when she answered.

"Hey, it's okay. This'll just be quick." Andy said as she watched the cars bustling past down the street who were unaware of what had just happened. "There was a shooting and Emily happened to be in the area at the time and she risked her life for a woman who got shot but the woman didn't make it so Emily's a little shaken with what's happened. I told her to go home but she didn't take my advice and is on her way back to Runway."

"I'll be telling her to go home. Thank you for telling me." Miranda replied and waved Nigel away. "Are you okay, darling?"

"I'm fine, it's Emily who I'm worried about." Andy replied.

"Good. And I'll make sure Emily goes home. I need to look over some photographs from todays shoot now but I will see you at home a bit later. I love you." Miranda replied.

"Love you too. Bye." Andy replied before she disconnected the call before Miranda with a small grin on her face. Usually it was Miranda who disconnected first. Turning around she walked over to where Alex was standing talking to another officer.

~*~

"I've been looking into Andy's assault, Alex, and the cab she was picked up in is rented out by a guy named Matthew Williams. He has a place in the Lower Side and the apartment block is----" he continued telling Alex the address.

"Thanks Doug." She said after she wrote down the address and looked at Andy. "Can you cover for me?" she asked.

"Yeah. Where are you going?" Andy asked curiously.

"I have something I need to do." Alex replied before giving Andy one last look and turning around and walking away.

~*~

The elevator doors dinged open and Emily stepped out of them and clacked down the halls of Runway towards Miranda's office. She entered Miranda's office and dumped the bags that held designer clothes in them onto the chairs in front of Miranda's desk.

"Emily, what are you doing back here?" Miranda asked, looking up at the English woman over the tops of her glasses.

Emily looked at her. "What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Andrea told me what happened. And by how you look right now you're going home." Miranda said, taking in Emily's pale face, more pale than usual, and her shaking hands.

"But Miranda-" Emily began but Miranda cut her off with a simple raise of her hand and shake of her head. "There'll be no buts, Emily. Go. Home."

Emily, knowing not to argue or talk back to Miranda, nodded her head. "Thank you." she said softly before she turned and left the office. Grabbing her belongings she glared at the second assistant. "Do not stuff up." she said and with that she walked towards the elevators.

~*~

Alex walked up the steps of a ratty apartment building in the Lower Side of Manhattan and rang the buzzer.

"Officer?" A guy on the other side said with a raised eyebrow as he opened the door.

"Did one of your drivers lose his ID card?" Alex asked holding it up in front of the cabbie.

"Yeah, he did actually." He replied holding out his hand to grab it but Alex pulled her hand away. "Why'd you come to give me the card? You could have just sent it." he said.

"You've been lending your car out to other drivers and that's an offense." Alex said, ignoring him.

"Look I don't drive anymore. I've got four cabs and I rent them out."

"One of your drivers assaulted one of my officers last night." Alex said to him.

"Really?"

"Yup." Alex replied and said the rego to him from the car Andy had been picked up in.

"How bad was it?"

"He attacked a good friend of mine and I'm not very impressed." Alex replied, not making it known that it was Andy that had been assaulted.

"Nor am I."

"Well have you got a name?" Alex asked.

"His name is Ray."

"Ray what?" Alex asked.

"I don't know."  he replied before glancing at his watch. "Look it's coming up to change over. You'll find him at the Exon gas station around the corner in the next half hour cleaning the cab."

With this information, and without saying another word, Alex turned around and walked down the stairs.

"Go for it. Don't even say thanks!" the guy said behind her.

"Wanker." Alex muttered as she began down the street.

~*~

Half An Hour Later.

"Alex, what exactly are we doing here?" Andy asked as she pulled up out the front of the gas station.

"Re-fueling." Alex replied.

"Alex, what are we doing?" Andy asked again.

"Refueling." Alex repeated before stepping out of the car.

Andy watched as Alex looked around the place and it was only when a cab pulled up that she reliased why Alex wanted to come here.

"Where's your ID?" Alex asked, bending down to the window of the cab to the driver who was currently looking at the passenger seat looking for something.

"Huh?" he asked, jumping slightly and turned to face Alex.

"Your cabbie license. Where is it?" Alex repeated.

"Oh I don't have it on me." He replied before mumbling things under his breath.

Alex straightened. "Get out of the car, sir." she said opening the door.

He looked at her alarmed then. "What have I done?" he asked.

"I said get out of the car!" Alex replied and leaned forward and grabbed him to pull him out.

"Jesus. I havent done anything." he said.

"Do you want to tell me about last night when you assaulted a fellow officer of mine?" Alex asked.

"I didn't mean to I mean she-she just came at me."

"Do you think i'm an idiot?" Alex asked.

"Alright, alright, I didn't know where she wanted to go so I.... I had no GPS alright and I... and she just went nuts."

"That's not you, is it?" Alex asked, holding up the ID Card.

He looked down at it and stopped his talking. "I don't have a license, okay? Ahh, I just rented the thing out from another guy every now and again, you know, he rents his cars out to unlicensed drivers."

"How much does he take for that?" Alex asked.

"A fair bit, I'm not sure how much but I need the work. I've lost my other job. I've got no choice. Really, I just-I just need the money."

"You called Shelley in?" Alex asked, turning to Andy who was standing near her when she spotted Shelley pulling up in her car.

"Yeah. Don't blame me if I thought you might punch the guys head in. It doesn't matter what he did to me I just don't need you getting in to any shit because of it." Andy replied.

"What did he do to you?" Shelley asked.

"This driver attacked Andy." Alex said.

"Yeah?" Shelley asked.

They continued talking before Nate stepped up to Andy.

"Andy, not cool." Nate said.

Andy turned around. "What?" she asked.

"It was a fix. You were hoping Alex would belt the guy." Nate said.

"What?" Andy nearly yelled. She couldnt believe what Nate was saying.

"That's why you gave her that ID card." Nate added.

"I can fight my own fights, thank you very much!" Andy replied.

"Hey Andy, that's not cool." Dom said, hearing the conversation from having arrived with Shelley.

Andy turned around to him. "Oh shut up. Why don't you just stay at home with your violently depressed wife and your unhappy baby?"

"Hey don't you dare talk about my wife like that!" Dom said and grabbed Andy. Andy pushed him away and Shelley came over and broke them up.

"Step away!" Shelley said. "do you want to tell me what's going on?" she asked when she had Andy away from Dom.

Andy looked at her boss.

"Is there any reason why you didn't inform me of your assault?" Shelley asked.

"Oh would everyone just get off it?!" Andy said. "Because I knew you'd freak out and you'd over analyse it and you'd involve everyone and I don't need Miranda finding out and worrying over it because I'm fine and don't need to be sent to see a councillor." Andy replied.

"Alright so you thought it was a brilliant idea to send Alex after him?" Shelley asked.

"Oh hang on! As if I would want to get her involved!" Andy yelled.

"I've been doing a bit of digging and theres been 5 alleged rapes by cabbies in the last 2 months. All of them were picked up from clubs in the CBD." Doug said.

"5 attacks reported by girls?" Alex asked.

"Yup." Doug replied.

"Any other descriptions?" Alex asked.

"In each case the girls were heavily intoxicated and were driven to a dark deserted area. But get this. The guy throws petrol in their faces. Pulls out a lighter and threatens to burn them if they don't cooperate. Now none of this matches to what happened to Andy, does it?" Doug said.

Andy remembered back to the night before when she saw the bottle of water, well what she had thought was water. "Hang on." she said and walked over to the cab and opened the door for the back and leaned in and pushed away some rubbish before she found the bottle. She held it up. "So what he splashes petrol on the victoms faces?" she asked turning to face the driver.

"Whats this huh?" Andy said.

"That's not mine!" the driver said.

"Hands behind your back!" Alex said and arrested the guy. "you're under arrest for the suspicion sexual assualts."

"Doug get a towe truck down here to get this cab away." Dom said into his radio before he and Shelley took the cabbie back to the precinct for further questioning.

"I'll get on to the sex offenders unit and tell them that they have someone coming in shortly." Shelley said, picking up her phone.

Andy stood watching as Dom and Shelley drove off with the guy who assaulted her the previous night. "He would've been back on the streets tonight." she said blankly.

Alex looked at her. "And now he's not."

~*~

Miranda walked out of the conference room and made her way to her office. She pulled out her cell to check to see if she had any missed calls or messages. She saw one message and it was from Cassidy saying that she and Caroline would be staying out with friends for the night. This excited Miranda because even though she loved having her girls around it meant that she would have Andrea to herself tonight. She smirked at the thought but quickly covered it with her hand before anybody saw.

The fashion editor pushed open the glass doors to her assistants office and frowned when she saw Emily standing by the printer as she took paper from it. "I thought I told you to go home for the day, Emily." Miranda said.

Emily sighed. "I know but I need to keep myself occupied or else I'll think about what happened earlier so I came back." she replied and hadn't realised she'd been holding her breath when Miranda nodded her head. "Very well." she said. She gave her most trusted assistant one last look before she turned on her heel and entered her office.

That Night.

"I hate the wind. More than rain." Dom said.

Andy laughed at him through the radio.

"What about you Alex. What do you hate more. Wind or rain?" Dom asked.

"I don't know." Alex replied through a mouthfull of a subway roll.

"See the rain, you can get out of, but the wind, you can't. It always gets ya." Dom replied.

"Yeah. I think I know what you mean." Andy replied but she raised an eyebrow to Alex anyways who shrugged at her in response which caused Andy to laugh again.

"Oh ew." Andy said when they drove past someone throwing up on the side walk. "I hate Saturdays."

"Matthew is not connected to a cab company. His cabs are privately run." Doug said loooking at the screen in front of him. "I'm having trouble tracking down the rego's for  cabs seeing as they're privately run and I've no idea how many of them there are." Doug said.

"Alright Doug. Alex, go over to Matthews again and try and get names from him, yeah?" Dom said into the radio.

"Copy that." Alex replied.

They soon were pulling up out the front of -- house again and Alex and Andy stepped outside the car. Alex went up to the door and knocked on it.

"What's this? Zombie night or something?" The man asked upon seeing the officers on his doorstep. "One of my cars were impounded thanks to you assholes." he added.

"Names of your drivers, I want to speak to them." Alex said, pulling out a pen and notebook.

"Jesus christ."

"Don't bullshit me. I want their real names." Alex said.

The older guy started writing on it.

"So one of them attacked an officer hey?" he asked. "What did he do? Whack the poor little copper?" he asked with a laugh. Alex and Andy remained quiet. "Hey? You mob are such pussys." he said looking up at them with a smirk on his face.

Both women were disgusted by him but didn't show it.

"It was me. He attacked me." Andy spoke up.

"So did he try and slip you one hey?"

"That's enough." Alex warned.

"Don't say I blame him. Tits like that." he said, visibly looking Andy up and down.

It made Andy sick to the stomach. "C'mon." Andy said, hitting Alex on the arm before turning around and heading back to the car. She'd had enough of this.

Alex stared at him for a second before turning around and following after Andy.

"Good night Officers." He said. "You slags."

Alex, who had just opened the drivers side door, closed it again and headed back over to him. She grabbed him and threw him against the patrol car violently, his head hitting the window hard.

"Alex!" Andy yelled.

The guy began groaning in pain.

Andy, being the kind person she was, helped the guy to his front door.

Alex soon looked around and saw a few people had stopped and saw what she'd done.

"Shit." Alex hissed to herself before getting inside the car. "Let's go!" she yelled to Andy.

~*~

"Your worried about what you did, aren't you?" Andy asked Alex who'd been silent ever since she assaulted the cab driver. "You can hardly beat yourself up over it. He's a serial rapist."

"Is that what we do now is it?" Nate asked. They'd had to pick him up earlier.

"You want my opinion Nate?" Andy asked. "He deserves to have his dick cut off."

"Yeah. Maybe but.." Nate trailed off.

"But what?" Andy asked as she looked at him in the rear-view mirror.

"Don't worry about it." Nate replied.

"Bottom line is, he won't be doing it again tomorrow night and I reckon that's a bloody good win." Andy replied.

They soon arrived to the precinct and Alex and Nate walked ahead of Andy.

"Alex. In my office immediately." Shelley said when she saw the other woman.

Alex entered Shelley's office and stood in front of the womans desk.

"You wanna tell me what happened?" Shelley asked.

"Obviously someone already did." Alex replied. "Who was it?" she asked.

"Witnesses. Their were witnesses and they phoned head office straight away." Shelley replied. "This isn't a one off incident, you know that?" Shelley contiued. "I don't think I can get you out of this one, Alex."

"Well I don't expect you to Shelley." Alex replied. "Will I be suspended?"

Shelley laughed. "Honey, you already are. Your stuck at the precinct until I say otherwise."

Without another word Alex walked out of the office and disappeared into the locker rooms where she changed so she could leave for the night.

~*~

8:42PM.

Miranda exited the Elias-Clarke building and spotted her car parked in the usual spot. A small smile appeared on her face when she saw a familiar brunette leaning against it.

"This is a nice surprise." Miranda softly said as she stepped closer to her wife.

Andy smiled wider. "I got off work early." she replied as she outstretched her hands and grabbed Miranda by the waist and pulled her closer. Their lips met in a soft kiss.

A few stunned people stopped on the side walk to watch the Miranda Priestly let her guard down and kiss her wife passionately for the whole world to see. Both women knew that they'd no doubt end up in Page 6 in the morning but they couldn't care less.

Andy pulled back and a small sigh escaped her slightly parted lips. Her eyes fluttered open and they locked with Miranda. Both their eyes were glazed over in arousal from the kiss they'd just shared and seeing this turned them on that much more.

"Let's go home." Andy whispered.

Miranda sighed. "That's the best thing I've heard all day." she replied. She smiled when Andrea opened the door for her. Just as she was about to slide into the car she stopped and gazed at her lover. "I love you, Andrea." she breathed.

Andy grinned. "I love you too." and with that Miranda slid into the car along with Andy and they headed home for a night of passion.

Runway Offices.

"You know you can get something for that."

Emily jumped slightly at hearing the voice behind her. She wiped at her eyes and turned around to see Alex standing in the door way of the office. "What? I'm okay." she said with a small smile.

"It's an alcohol based thing." Alex continued, ignoring Emily's words that she was fine, as she watched the English woman stand from her desk chair and grab her coat and began putting it on.

"Oh?" Emily asked as she grabbed her purse.

"The bar down the street has a good selection." Alex said. "Well, it has a lot of beer."

Emily sighed. "I like a lot of beer."

"Let's go?" Alex said an eyebrow raised.

Emily hesitated for a minute as she studied the other woman, Alex's hands were shoved in her jean pockets, not designer of course, Emily didn't seem to mind this, and the woman were her hood and she couldn't help but think she looked gorgeous. Emily couldn't help but want to spend time with the woman and she nodded her head. With a small smile she walked side by side with Alex out of the office and towards the bay of elevators.
